Cruz to visit Ukraine

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz will visit Ukraine later this month to meet with the embattled nation’s political leaders in the midst of  violent confrontations with pro-Russian separatists, a spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday.

The trip is certain to raise the Texas Republican’s profile at a time when he’s been widely speculated to be a 2016 White House contender. The trip is sponsored by Secure America Now, a conservative non-profit group that says it is “dedicated to mobilizing millions of national security activists to support policies that protect our nation against terrorist infiltration, attack and capitulation to enemies.”

Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said no taxpayer dollars will be used on the trip.

Cruz told The Associated Press earlier Tuesday that he’ll meet with political, military, business in Ukraine and other countries in Eastern Europe. Israel is also on the itinerary. Ukraine’s new leaders, who ousted a pro-Russian president, have scheduled a May 25 presidential vote.

“Ukraine right now is facing an enormous threat from a resurgent Russia. (Russian President) Vladimir Putin has been quite naked about his desire to reconstitute as much as possible the old Soviet Union,” Cruz told the Associated Press. “I have a particular responsibility to assess firsthand the current and future military threats that could jeopardize our safety and the security of our allies.”

Cruz has previously called for the Obama administration to reconsider a “Star Wars” type anti-ballistic missile system to counter Russia. He’s also pushed for U.S. exports of liquefied natural gas to reduce Ukraine’s dependence on Russia.

I wouldn’t put it past zero and his minions to provide lax security for Senator Cruz. Remember Benghazi....

Remember W in Colombia. They even tried to serve him poisoned fish (puffer?) for dinner.

W had to yank his personal detail out from behind the police line.

The Dems wanted him dead. Plain and simple.

I want Cruz to be President, I trust he will represent America well. Though now days Ukraine needs arms and men willing to use them, not well wishes from western politicians. Also this is the strongest evidence yet that he indeed will run.

I liker Cruz but he was born in Canada and cannot run for President. I don’t care if he visits Ukraine but I don’t want to spend a dime on Ukraine , MUCH LESS our blood. So Visit all you want and let us know how it turns out.

Cruz has been proven eligible over and over again. He can run for President and should.

No SCOTUS decision has come down about eligibility.

So a person can be born in a foreign country to a foreigner father and come to the US at age 4 and be eligible for president? That really opens it up, doesn’t it.

I thought Cruz would run and win. Now I'm not sure.

He apparently drank the 'cool aid' and following the mob by sticking.his nose in something he has not thought out'.

One thing we don't need is a McCain clone in the White House.

My man is now Rand Paul.

Ted will be doing more fact finding trips, because he will be running in 2016. Cruz/Palin, Cruz/Walker or Cruz/LePage would be three great tickets.

Cruz should avoid getting photographed driving a tank, wearing any funny looking hats, or shaking hands with any neo-Nazis while he’s over there.

Rand Paul who thinks that voter ID laws are bad because they might offend some people? And a lot more “stuff”...

If you want a moderate, like McCain, then you chose correctly, Ran Paul, soft on most issues.

So you are going to spam the threads with that nonsense, and false claim, that I’m pretty sure that you have been called on a number of times?

Cute, since you have always disliked him.

Will Cruz lift up the neo Con banner?

There is noting in or about Ukraine that is an essential USA security interest. Other than the desire to see self-determination in Ukraine, what else is there?

"Deny Russia"? The Russians have enormous political, security and commercial interests there and also enormous incentive to protect those interests.

No, I'm not saying it's all legitimate, but I am saying it's REAL.

Inevitably, they win because it's worth more to them. We'd do well to STFU and figure out how we actually meet our existing NATO obligations, over-extended as they are.

Cruz doesn’t say anything until every option is considered, and when he does say something, it is the right thing.

*all you zombies hide your faces, all you people in the streets, all you living in high places, the rain’s gonna fall on you*
