Sal Russo, co-founder of the Tea Party Express, announced his support for amnesty on Wednesday, reversing his organizations statement from a year ago that it would not take a position on immigration reform. If you take a look at Russos background, this isnt exactly the revelation that some in the media are making it out to be. Whats interesting, though, is the dichotomy between Russos position and the principles of the organization he helped to create.
The Tea Party Express bills itself as anti-establishment, but Russos immigration proposal is nearly identical to the principles pushed by GOP House Leaders -- John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Paul Ryan -- back in January.

Could you link to the transcript of the Laura Ingraham show you heard that on?
Thanks.
Yes, because they jumped in line to endorse him the minute he announced his candidacy, and didn't bother to vet him. This was especially unjustifiable considering they had just gotten burned badly by the PREVIOUS "true conservative" GOP Senator in that seat, Mel Martinez, who ALSO had CLAIMED to be "anti-amnesty" to get the GOP nomination.
I guess they're slow learners. "Gosh, you mean politicians don't always keep their campaign promise?"
Laura Ingraham Hammers Tea Party Express' Sal Russo on Immigration
Thanks kabar
Did the Tea Party Express get in Rubio’s corner to help him get elected?
With all due respect, given Rubio’s participation, and leadership, with the Senate Gang of Eight amnesty bill, that’s not a ringing endorsement for Sal Russo.
Huh? Your comment does not relate to my comment that I can see.
Do you have the answer to my question?
However, there's on thing the Right can unite around: taking down the $4 trillion government that is in the process of a silent but deadly coup d'état before it takes us down. This is THE great issue of our time.
No other issue comes close. The Right must unite around whoever is most committed to cutting the federal government by at least 80% (would leave it at $800 billion - still too big, but its a start.) There is no other source or entity, foreign or domestic that poses the threat the federal government poses to our lives, liberties, pursuits, fortunes, economy, posterity, Constitution and rule of law, future and survival of America as we know it.
We are part of the solution by uniting to cut down this monster and we are part of the problem if we are diverted from this task.
YES, I damn well do disagree with that first statement. The U.S. immigration system is NOT flawed and broken. The existing laws worked just fine before Uncle Sam stopped enforcing them. Eisenhower fixed the problem in only six months through strict enforcement and deportations, and so there is no excuse now.
Sal has bought into the big business, cheap labor, "jobs Americans won't do" nonsense. Does the TEA Party Express stand behind him?
Those don’t work either. Just more “camel nose under the tent.”
And what false premise would that be, chief? That Sal Russo supports amnesty, which he just wrote a big high-profile column supporting?
It's pretty prominent and through a certain poster on this thread, has maintained a presence on Free Republic, with JimRob participating in some of its events. That's why this question about Russo and whether or not TPX still backs him is so important.
It was at a TEA Party Express event that Jim met and got kissed by Sarah Palin
If the groups supports Russo’s statements, I’m guessing there will be a reassessment of this group.
your correct sir, great post and right on
100%
Greaaaat...with friends like this, who needs enemies right?
How many more moles are in the TEA party movement?
You know, I’m pretty much at the point of just giving up. Maybe Alex Jones is right after all: everyone is conspiring to do something evil, and no one is to be trusted.
Which, if true, is pretty much a sign that all political activity and activism is just a big fat waste of time.
Therefore, the premise on which this question is asked is legitimate: What is the TEA Party Express saying about Sal and his embrace of amnesty?
I recall back when the Tea Party first started, that there were a few Trojan Horse organizations that adopted the name but had nefarious designs. I even think I remember that TP Express was specifically named.
Nonetheless, my recollection being solid or not, the embrace of RINO Amnesty is counter to everything the Tea Party stands for.
This will be a critical blow to TPE (if they are even really "Tea Party"), unless they rebuke Russo's position immediately and forcefully.
