Russian Official Blames Afghan Heroin For 500,000 Deaths

The director of Russia's Federal Drug Control Service says the use of Afghan heroin has killed at least 500,000 Russian citizens in the past 13 years.

Viktor Ivanov made the comment at an international antidrug conference in Moscow on May 15.

He said there had been more than 1 million deaths in the whole of Eurasia caused by the use of Afghan heroin since the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001.

Ivanov said the "intense transit" of drug products from Afghanistan is estimated at some $100 billion a year, contributing to instability and violence in the region.

Afghan heroin is routinely smuggled into Russia through Central Asia.

Ivanov has repeatedly criticized NATO and the United States for not doing enough to fight drug trafficking in Afghanistan.

At least they have an estimate of deaths. WE DO NOT.

We do know poppy production in Afghanistan under Obama went through the roof.

World government are complicit, I get the impression they have their own favorite cartels, this the conflictof interests.

The peasants are all just sitting ducks, of the megalomaniacs who pretend to play God.

If Afghanistan generates $100 billion a year in opium revenue...the cost of lives lost is at least 10 times that.

Opium and heroin (and yes even marijuana) are Satanic stealers of souls.

Addicts who have reached the point of being honest with themselves know the truth.

That said, I am not against the legalization of drugs.

I don't think the war on drugs is best fought in the courts and by the police.

The war on drugs is a spiritual war...best fought by the consciences of men...and by families, communities, schools, companies, and churches.

Availability of cheap Drugs = Increased Drug use

Increased Drug use = Increased Drug addiction

Increased Drug addiction = Increased job lose

Increased Job lose = Increased Welfare dependence

Increased Welfare = Increased Government dependence

Increased Government dependence = Increased Democrat voters

Now, do you understand?

I agree with you 1000%. So long as people want to do drugs, they will do drugs and all the laws in the world will not stop them. People need a moral and spiritual compass that tells them to not do drugs.

I vote we use Agent Orange on the all poppy fields on our way out. We’ve surely mapped and photographed the entire godforsaken hellhole. There locations are probably well known to us by now.

they have a point ....which ever U.S. administration or officials made the decision(s) to back off on eradicating Afghan poppy should be shot . There is no excuse , ZERO .
In all the time we have been there !...We could have been flying crop dusters and spraying Roundup on every damn smack field in Afghanistan . Forget the guilt about Agent Orange , this is an entirely new ball game and it could have been done . What kind of message is that to send to our young troops , to make them walk thru vast poppy and marijuana fields and not have a thing done about any of it . Screw the Afghan dirt farmers , they are all Taliban sympathizers anyway . Russia and the world have a legitimate complaint . Of course , at the same time , what has Russia done to rein in and STOP their organized crime cartels from trading with the Taliban for that heroin , trading vast amounts of weaponry , that U.S. forces have faced every day . Where do you think it all comes from ? hmmmm ?

Rather than crop dusters, design armed drones for the purpose. Don’t give the narcs any pilots to shoot and have them able to shoot back at anyone that tries to down them.

Ours isn't the only complicit government. Maybe the Russian official was making an unofficial statement as a concerned unaware person. Remember that Russia and Iran are in cahoots. Iran funded Chavez' political campaign. Chavez turned Venezuela into the biggest drug distributor in the world. Iran is also involved in trafficking. Remember that Obama was caught on tape with a message for Vladimir saying he would have "more flexibility" after election. In seems all Obama has done in his 2nd term is support the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda in the Middle East, which are essentially heroin cartels. It has been rumored that the Ukraine is nothing more to Russia than a drug route to Europe. The same way Mexico is to the US. Soros certainly seemed to want the Ukraine in his control. Soros is up to his eyeballs in cartel money laundering and influence peddling. Whatever the truth is, Obama's weak posturing under Putin's aggression leaves me with no doubt that Obama is compromised in ways that Putin is well aware of. Maybe Putin will get pissed off on day and care to share.
