Consumers who purchased new health plans from Blue Shield of California have sued the insurer, claiming they were misled into thinking the insurance would cover their desired doctors and hospitals. In their complaint filed in California state court on Wednesday, San Francisco residents John Harrington and Alex Talon accused Blue Shield of misrepresenting that their plans, sold on California´s health exchange, would cover the full provider network advertised on the company´s website. They sued on behalf of a class of people who had purchased so-called "preferred provider organization" plans from the insurer only to realize that the doctor and hospital

All of the plans would have been vetted and approved by the state. All of the plans had to be ACA compliant.

Oh yes. The plans and carriers have been micromanaged to the nth degree.

“No, it’s not their fault as you said. I have family there and they did NOT vote for Obama.”

Even if that is granted, they shouldn’t be complaining to the rest of the country about Kalofornia’s choice...

Californians are enraged to discover that there is no such thing as a free lunch and that politicians may be less than truthful when they make promises.

We are transitioning from 6 years of an Obama “free s**t” fueled by almost tripling the national debt in that time frame to the emerging “ who is going to s**t the money” economy where there simply is no longer enough willing lenders to support the spending spree.

Times a comin’ where pulling the unicorn horn crank lever on magic EBT recharge machine no longer re fills the EBT card with money from Obama’s stash.

“I think they are accusing Blue Shield of misrepresenting the preferred doctors who were on the plan.”

Nobody knew the details (including Blue Shield) until they read it. It was already passed at that point.

California, my heart has no blood left to bleed. You reap what you sow. Now leave town—but where will you go stupid fools?

Tell that to the owner of this website. He lives in Fresno, California.

I know Jim lives in Fresno. If you really believe this was meant for him, you are part of the problem.

Why not? They can print and borrow the whole thing.

To me that doesn’t make any sense. The people who support this are not complaining and most likely voted for it. The people who are out-numbered in California, are complaining and didn’t vote for it are NOT to blame.

Of course your blanket slander of every other California FReeper wasn't meant for Jim Robinson. What a flaming coward you make. Just go ahead and slam every conservative in the State with the guts to fight on the front lines. From Duncan Hunter to Tom McClintock, there are solid conservatives in Congress upon whom you witlessly depend, but just cut them loose too.

Defeatism like that will doom you wherever you flee.

When enrollment began for the Covered California plans, Blue Shield published a list of doctors and hospitals who were supposedly participating in the new plan. Many of these doctors never signed a contract to be part of the plan and Blue Shield published their names anyway, in effect lying to consumers.
Oh, Doc X is on this plan! I will sign up then. Woops. after I pay my premium I discover Doc X never was nor intended to be a preferred provider in that plan.

I doubt that that is true. That would involve fraud and the majority of policy buyers, even those that had never had to use the plan could sue in small clams court for a refund.

More likely, they just made bad assumptions because the rules kept changing.
