Ben Carson, the famed neurosurgeon who delivered a bold speech critical of President Barack Obama at least years National Prayer Breakfast, is reportedly warming up to the idea of a presidential run.
Carson told the Weekly Standard this week that hes starting to feel a tug to possibly run for national office, highlighting the intense response he gets when he travels around the nation speaking about contemporary issues.
He spoke specifically about a woman whom he said truly touched him when she implored him to seek the presidency. She just kept clinging to my hand and said, You have to run. You have to run, Carson told the Weekly Standards Fred Barnes. And so many people tell me that, and so I think Im starting to hear something.
But Carson said hes fully aware that running for president is no easy feat.
Its a daunting thing, he said. I know how vehemently the left will come after you, try to destroy you, try to destroy your family.
Carson continued, But at the same time I recognize that people like Nathan Hale he said, My only regret is I have but one life to give to my country
and if everybody runs for the hills because theyre afraid that somebody is going to attack them or their family, then [the left] will have won.

hmmm, no disrespect but looking around at the supposed “presidential material” he’s a ray of light.
Hillary!! lol - I mean, I’m living in the Twilight Zone.
He’s got my vote!
No thanks.
Dr. Carson is good man, but he needs to demonstrate he can win something first.
Politics is a skill and most people need to learn the ropes and at least show they can win a general election at some local/state level before they jump right into running for President of the United States.
Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard the “but we want a regular guy as President”. Sorry, but those people generally don’t win because they don’t have the political skills to avoid becoming a gaffe machine.
Let’s not have a Herman Cain re-run. That was silly enough to last us for a few presidential cycles.
I really do with he would run for mayor of Detroit. He’s a local hero with schools named after him and he might get through to enough people to bring about real change from the bottom up.
Same thing.
I have a problem with him as Presidential candidate based on his statements regarding Trayvon Martin.
He MUST be against amnesty!
Do not waste him on Detroit. Nobody can save Detroit!! Let the Dems go down with it. All pubes and conservatives should stand clear of Detroit!!
That would be fantastic. I’d love to see some black conservatives or even just right leaning independents start winning in urban areas and helping break the Democrat lock on this voting block.
I am certain Dr. Carson is a good man, and running for mayor of Detroit or some office that matches his current political skills would be terrific.
One thing people should realize about seemingly conservative political unknowns is that not only do they not usually make good candidates for high office, are we really sure if they win they can resist the establishment/media’s attempt to tame them? It is a lot harder than it seems. How often to we see supposed conservatives go to Washington and become mushy moderates? This is especially true of some of our judicial appointments. Now how often do you see this behavior from the left? There is a lot more pressure on conservatives to conform, and most human beings want to be liked and want to be agreeable. We need elected officials that can resist this kind of pressure, even the most subtle kind.
A place like Detroit really does need a mayor who is an inspirational leader and Carson came from a situation that many there live in today. (And this time its not basketball of football stardom)
Detroit? As rar as I know he lives in Maryland.
But he’s from Detroit. Its 4 years till the next mayoral race there.
How about he unseats Sen Barbara Mikulski or Sen Ben Cardin, or better yet, depending on which gerrymandered district he lives in, may he could unseat Rep. Elijah Cummings?
I think of Carson the way I think of Rick Perry: He's a good, solid, conservative guy who should stay in the public eye, stay in the newspapers and on television, but should not run for president.
Political groupies! Sheesh!!
Heard the man speak, makes sense, I like him.
A terrible decision.
No. Nice guy and all. I’d look him up to do brain surgery on a grandkid. Obviously more than bright enough for the job but...
In Walker's case, they're making up dirt by the bucketfuls.
I think people are pushing him due to his RACE. I like some of the things I’ve heard him say and he does have the potential to be POTUS, much more than odumbo ever had. If the Lord wants him in the race, he will enter. It’s all up to him.
