Community activists await decision on charges in Andy Lopez case

Community (is) growing impatient waiting for a decision by Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch on whether (or not) to file criminal charges against sheriff’s deputy Erick Gelhaus in the shooting death (seven shots riddled the child) of 13-year-old Andy Lopez. Gelhaus told authorities he mistook the boy's (un tipped, realistic looking rifle replica) BB gun for an assault rifle last October. (While the autopsy report detailing entry points is restricted, ballistics indicate three of the seven penetrating slugs were retrieved from the earth near and/or under the boy's shredded body.) The District Attorney’s office Thursday would offer no timetable on when it will make its decision.

“under the boy’s shredded body”

No emotive, leading use of language there then /s

Doesn’t really say what the boy was doing with the gun before he got shot. Was he waving it around or brandishing it in a threatening manner? If so, the fa t that it turned out not to be a real gun in hindsite is irrelevant.

Most likely what happen was those three bullets penetrated just through the skin and shirt and he fell on them when he went down.

Hope away - the cops these days get away with pretty much anything.

Either you’re not familiar with this case or you refuse to learn the facts. The boy was pretty much executed. For no real reason other than the cop felt like it.

No, just an accurate description of a body shredded by seven .40 caliber hollow points. If shooting children and dogs comes with a trial and possible prison, we may get these Gestapo goons under control.

All three had just enough energy to exit his body and fall to the ground at the exact spot where he fell.

Amazing!

Well what are the facts then? This article doesn’t furnish us with much, other than tell us that a 13 year old boy carrying what later turned out to be a BB gun was ‘shredded’ by a cop’s bullets. The lack of context, such as what the boy was doing with the gun to provoke him being shot makes me suspicious that the facts don’t match the narrative the article is trying to put forward.

If this bastard gets away with it, then you can drop the "pretty much" modifier.
