"Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 5.2 percent from 5.5 percent in March, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. That was far less than last month’s U.S. jobless rate of 6.3 percent.
The energy industry has seen the fastest growth in that time, with employment up 7.5 percent."
The information is even better when you look at regions:
"For April, the Dallas area’s unemployment rate was 4.8 percent and the Fort Worth area’s rate was 4.6 percent.
The Midland area had the state’s lowest jobless rate of 2.3 percent.
The McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area had the highest rate of 8.6 percent."
The city by city numbers are fascinating: Growth in Dallas, a boom in Midland and things are slow in South Texas.
I don't pretend that Texas has all of the answers but we must be doing something right. Isn't a shame that Governor Perry was not able to make that case in 2012? It would have been interesting.

I think one of the reasons Texas is successful is BECAUSE our Politicians aren’t particularily skilled. In Mississippi, the politicians are heroes because they bring home the pork....Mississippi is also 50th. Texas’ heroes are the cowboys, oilmen, bankers, construction workers, roughnecks, etc. Skilled politicians tend to be SOOOO “smrt”, they write up new regulations and taxes to enslave folks. OUR politicians are usually pretty good at staying out of the way.
RiNO Rick is another self serving Democrat moron. Just say no.
Perry is a contradiction.
On the one hand, he would make an excellent president, possibly the best choice of anyone alive today. Anyway, at least in the top ten.
On the other hand, he’s possibly the worst campaigner on the American scene. Anyway, probably in the ten worst.
Too bad. Because of Perry’s lack of ability to appeal to the MTV slogan-controlled attention span of the American public (including many American Conservatives) we have zero chance of a President Perry.
California is expensive because TOO MANY people want to live here. The state produced jobs. There are 38.4 million folks living in California, according to Google, in 2012--TWO years ago.
Once they get here they don't leave, even if their jobs do. They go on welfare.
Then, of course, there are the illegals living here. Also from Google:
Illegal Immigrants in California and Los Angeles County
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), an estimated 2,830,000 illegal immigrants in California.
=======================================
The illegal immigrant population of the United States in 2008 was estimated by the Center for Immigration Studies to be about 11 million people, down from 12.5 million people in 2007.
=======================================
OF COURSE, the illegals want welfare.
RE: RiNO Rick is another self serving Democrat moron. Just say no.
Can you share with us a few things that make him a No, No for the US presidency?
No 1 is Shamnesty.
Texas certainly has some good economic numbers going for it. It is natural to associate the good news with “good politics!”
I’m flattered that I get the attention. Thanks.
On the other hand, hes possibly the worst campaigner on the American scene.

The debate meltdown was just after he had back surgery. He was wearing a brace and on heavy pain meds just to be there. His memory lapse at one point in the debate sunk him.
How would you have performed under the same circumstances?
Rick Perry has done good for Texas and has brought in many new businesses and jobs.
Right now Rick Perry is in my top two picks for 2016 along with Cruz. I’m just sorry I bought into that RINO carpola back in 2012.
Rick Perry is not a RINO and he is a solid states righter. His book about the 10th amendment spells that out. He would fight to reduce the size of govt which is desparately needed and he would promote job creation. I would have zero problem voting for him.
1. I am not running. I would do poorly.
2. I have been and continue to be a strong admirer of Rick Perry
3. It wasn’t just that one debate.
That senior moment was what killed Rick Perry’s campaign.
I'll answer it for the poster.
Perry isn't Cruz.
Palin, Cruz, or LOSE. La Raza Rick is another Booshie.
Millions of Americans have been fleeing California.
Perry isn’t Cruz.

You are correct on that point, especially the native born part.
When I was growing up there were a mere 10 million here in the Golden State. There are, by 2012 figures, more than 38 million here. That is down from the 40 million.
I wish millions more would FLEE.
FLEE!!! FLEE!!!! Today!! Pul-eeze.
