My guess is that in the next few years WE are going to get a largish bump of Ukranians moving to the USA to escape Putin's oppression.

Just a guess.

BTW: they are welcome, as far as I'm concerned.

Russians murdered 7 million Ukrainians in the 1930s so the murders they commit there today I guess don’t amount to that much.

The world doesn’t really much care how many Ukrainians the Russians murder, whether it’s millions then or hundreds (so far) now.

So what’s the big deal, right?

I know there have been people who posted on this site that it’s all the Ukrainians fault anyway, so why should we worry if the Russians go back to murdering them?

Maybe that’s just the way the world is, and always has been. There are Ukrainians, and Russians murder them. Nothing to see here, really. Please just move on.

Is this terrorist group a part of the Neo-Nazi party Svoboda? If it is, it is being supported by the U.S. government.

The death of the farmer is terrible and the killers should be brought to justice, but the reporter sensationalized the story as a massacre. A massacre is Chicago on a weekend!

JonRish 46 - Sadly the U.S. gov’t does not seem to support Ukraine at all!

However, this info may help clarify: Olexiy Haran, a political science professor at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, says “There is a lot of misunderstanding surrounding Svoboda” and that the party is not fascist, but radical. Ihor Kolomoyskyi, president of the United Jewish Community of Ukraine, stated in 2010 that the party has clearly shifted from the far-right to the center.

Political scientist Andreas Umland predicted the party would continue to become more moderate over time, and that “there’s a belief that Svoboda will change, once in the Verkhovna Rada, and that they may become proper NATIONAL DEMOCRATS.”

Since then, the party has gained seats in parliament and has net over 10% of the national vote in the 2012 parliamentary elections. The US ambassador in Kiev, Geoffrey Pyatt, said in 2014 that he had been “positively impressed” by Svoboda’s evolution in opposition and by its behavior in parliament. “They have demonstrated their democratic bona fides,” the ambassador asserted.

Alexander J. Motyl argues that Svoboda’s brand of nationalism “has significantly diminished during, and possibly as a result of, the Euro Revolution.”

I found this info of Sveboda Party platform:

Svoboda’s platform is called “Our Own Authorities, Our Own Property, Our Own Dignity, on Our Own God-Given Land.” and includes the following points:
1. Ukraine—a presidential republic, head of state is the head of government

2. Lustration of state authority: publication of lists of all Soviet KGB agents that served or continue to serve in Ukraine, dismissal of such people as well as members of the former Communist Party of the Soviet Union from state leadership positions, replace them with graduates of the Ukrainian universities

3. Criminal prosecution for “Ukrainophobia”
4. Only those born in Ukraine can become Ukrainian citizens, with the exceptions for those who have lived in Ukraine for more than 15 years, know the Ukrainian language, culture and Ukrainian Constitution
5. Renunciation[nb 2] of the 2010 Kharkiv agreements
6. Impeachment of President Viktor Yanukovych
7. Ban on abortion, except in cases of medical necessity, or rape; and imprisonment from three to seven years for those who violate this ban
8. Criminalization of public promotion of abortions or calls for abortions (by introducing a fine for doing so)
9. The right to keep and bear arms
10. Occupied Khmelnytskyi Regional Council, January 2014
11. Cancelling taxes on Ukrainian language products — films, music and literature — and instead imposing taxes on non-Ukrainian language products. The proceeds obtained this way will be channeled into developing Ukrainian language products
12. Nationalization of major enterprises, greater state control of the banking system and a ban on privatization of land
13. Energy independence for Ukraine
14. The development of competitive industries, particularly food processing and aircraft engineering, shipbuilding, machine-tool construction, machine manufacturing, the military industrial complex and the aerospace industry
15. Ban on the import of the food products that are also produced inside Ukraine and import only exotic food that is not domestically grown
16. The restoration of the Soviet practice of indicating ethnic origin on passports and birth certificates
17. Proportional representation on executive bodies of ethnic Ukrainians, on the one hand, and national minorities, on the other
18. Ban on adoptions by non-Ukrainians of Ukrainian children
19. Preferential treatment for Ukrainian students in the allocation of dormitory places, and a series of similar changes to existing legal provisions
20. Ordained persons should have no right to be elected to state authorities or local self-government authorities
21. Abolition of Crimean autonomy
22. Abolition of value added tax
23. Farmlands are to be state-owned and given to farmers in hereditary use
24. The state is to implement a firm pro-family policy
25. Dismissal of employees of state structures who had been active in the Soviet apparatus before 1991
26. Decommunization of public space (monuments, names of streets and places)
27. Russia should apologize “for its communist crimes”
28. Ukraine is to leave the Commonwealth of Independent States “and other post-Soviet structures”
29. An explicit guarantee of accession to NATO within a set period of time
30. Ukraine should again re-acquire tactical nuclear weaponry

Alexander J. Motyl argues that Svoboda’s brand of nationalism “has significantly diminished during, and possibly as a result of, the Euro Revolution.

I can only assume that Motyl is a member of Svobada since he is lying. Svoboda has much more power now, and in the list you copied leaves out the fact that Bandera and Hitler are heroes to them, and many leading Svoboda members have called for the deaths of all separatists.

BTW, UMCRevMom, what do you think about all this?

Additionally, they have some very seriously bad proposals here. But considering that they are neo-Nazi, which means National Socialist, such items are not suprising.

3. Criminal prosecution for “Ukrainophobia”

A useful umbrella term to imprison and maybe execute (as said should happen by members of Svoboda already) all political enemies.

12. Nationalization of major enterprises, greater state control of the banking system and a ban on privatization of land

History has shown what happens when business and land are no longer privatey owned, but owned by the government. Why do these freaks hate communism? They're proposing communism!!! Are they insane?

14. The development of competitive industries, particularly food processing and aircraft engineering, shipbuilding, machine-tool construction, machine manufacturing, the military industrial complex and the aerospace industry

Would these be among the ones nationalized, I would assume so.

16. The restoration of the Soviet practice of indicating ethnic origin on passports and birth certificates

What does "ethnic origin" mean, precisely? "Russian"? I assume so it's easier to know who to send to the camps or killing fields.

18. Ban on adoptions by non-Ukrainians of Ukrainian children

19. Preferential treatment for Ukrainian students in the allocation of dormitory places, and a series of similar changes to existing legal provisions

Does "non-Ukrainians" mean ethnic Russians living in Ukraine?

23. Farmlands are to be state-owned and given to farmers in hereditary use

Hmm, owned by the government but "given" to farmers? Sounds like giving other peoples' land to political favorites. Also sounds like setting up the country for starving the "non-Ukrainians" or those with "Ukraine-phobia". Nationalizing Ukrainian farmland worked out so well under Stalin.....These people are madmen.

30. Ukraine should again re-acquire tactical nuclear weaponry

Just what the world needs. Nukes in the hands of the Pravi Sektor.

The Ukraine “nationalists” or those who are regarded by the western media as “nationalists” trace their origin to the ‘fascist formations’ that allied with Nazi Germany and collaborated with massacres committed then.

The third largest party in the opposition is ‘Svoboda’, with deep ties to the Nazi period Ukrainian fascists.

The Privy Sektor (First Sector) is an openly fascist formation, and has been in the forefront of the clashes in Keiv and throughout Ukraine.

With regard to Ukraine there is very much a selective nature and twisting of the facts so that they follow the pre-arranged narrative of both US Agenda and also that of Russia.

In reality it is the the absence of information which is serving not to inform the public but to manipulate and paint a false scenario so that the true nature of the events is not known .....and so polices and plans for the region may be implemented with no resistance.

As a newsreader, journalist and commentator covering the events in Ukraine who is multi-lingual and with access to hundreds of sources of information I have witnessed more than most can the way the media manipulates the facts to fit their own scenario.

I did check and found the Svoboda platform on wikipedia and this other site:

http://www.fighthatred.com/recent-events/national-political-hate/1095-the-anti-semitic-svoboda-all-ukrainian-union-wins-representation-in-the-ukrainian-parliament

And UMCRevMom@aol.com, since you told me to stop “bashing Svoboda”, I’d like to know your opinion of the items on the Svoboda platform that I specifcally objected to.

Thank you. I have noticed in my readings on Ukraine since the Euromaidan protests started, that truth was the first casualty, and every news article or video or whatever about that situation has to be looked at with a salt shaker handy. Or better, a sense of discernment and understanding of the motives and methods of the various players.

It seems to me that Svoboda and its Pravi Sektor have much more power now than before the coup.

....”Svoboda and its Pravi Sektor have much more power now than before the coup”....

That is correct..because when the US and Keiv Gov wanted these two groups to back off and dismantle, and this after the violent coup the US and Keiv Gov. initiated that would oust the current elected Gov, these groups refused to take any orders from anyone.....especially in light of the fact their people then were placed within the Keiv Gov. That was to be the trade-off.

As usual the US didn't recognize the nature of either of these groups, nor the power they have coveted over Ukraine nor their agenda they would begin as soon as they had a foothold in the Government. I said all along these groups would not let go of their foothold easily and many would die....the US and EU are fully responsible for what's happening in Ukraine and they continue to support these groups...directly and indirectly. The do not regard the life of the people over that of their unquenchable thirst for control via Brussels...and the tenticles which go out from there throughout the countries.

The Euromaidan protests were engineered right from the beginning, paid protesters for one thing, and innocent protesters were being used as pawns by behind-the-scenes actors.

Oh yes, ...same as with the Orange Revolution prior. Little miss Yulia Tymoshenko will do anything necessary to gain power in Ukraine...she is one vile woman. She has threatened a third Maidan if she is not elected pres.

Ukraine politics will continue to be nasty and corrupt as those running remain the same ones voted for in the past. But of course this isn’t about an “election”...this is about which “Outside Entities” can manipulate the masses sufficient to “win” their control of Kiev Gov.

Since UMCRevMom@aol.com refuses to openly post her opinion about Svoboda’s platform, it’s obvious she supports it all.

National Socialism.
