On May 15, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) announced the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on June 3 on amending the U.S. Constitution to limit political speech. If ultimately adopted, it would mark the first time in American history that a constitutional amendment rescinded a freedom listed as among the fundamental rights of the American people.
The proposed amendment was introduced by Sen. Tom Udall (D-CO) as S.J.R. 19 and if ratified would become the Twenty-Eighth Amendment. It provides in part that “Congress shall have power to regulate the raising and spending of money and in-kind equivalents with respect [to] the Federal elections … [and] State elections.”
The proposed amendment includes a provision that “Nothing in this article shall be construed to grant Congress the power to abridge the freedom of the press.” So Breitbart News, The New York Times, and the mainstream media would be able to say whatever they want, but citizens and citizen groups such as the National Rifle Association could not.
The American people have amended the Constitution 27 times in the nation’s history. Ten of those happened in a single package when the states ratified the Bill of Rights, and another three occurred between 1865 and 1870 following the Civil War, forbidding slavery and racial discrimination.
Reid usually opposes amending the Constitution. In 2011, Reid voted against S.J.R. 10, a proposed constitutional amendment by Sens. Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee (R-UT) that would require the federal government to balance the federal budget. In 2004 Reid voted against S.J.R. 40 that would have protected marriage as the union of one man and one woman, which would not include same-sex partners or polygamous marriages of three or more people.

* Vf = Volker Failure threshold of permanent financial failure as defined by Economist Intellectual Paul Volker: “The Federally Regulated stimulation of financial debt, Private, State, or Federal, until that financial debt exceeds what can be recovered in a court-managed bankruptcy.”
* Sg = Single Government, which is the system were everybody must pay a single Government entity, historically it has been an oppressive Dictator.
Without over FOUR years of consistent refusal by Doormat Republicans, such as Boehner and Cantor, to enforce the Constitutional House Checks and Balances, Obama would have been far less successful.

If the youth of America ever vote to purge our government of the elderly, the Marxocrat party is finished.
Really hope to see Tom Udall opponent, Cory Gardner, run some serious TV ads accusing Udall of trying to rescind the first amendment. It would put Udall seriously on the defensive.
I sure hope so. He really needs to go.

in 1913 the democrats and democrat president woodrow wilson passed the 16th amendment(allowed the income tax to fund the corrupt governemnt), 17th amendment (took away state's rights among other things), federal reserve (allowed the financing of WW1 which led to WW2, inflation ) etc. . So essentially this “progressive era” of the early 1900’s basically destroyed our Republic and it was mainly democrat president woodrow wilson’s doing with the help of the democrat congress and media (democrats too)
and your media icon democrat JfK also wanted to change immigration to come from the 3rd world. and his brother ted pulled it off the 1965 immigration act. all these and more from your democrats and we see why we are in the mess we are in w/ 18 trillion in debt (federal reserve etc.) and with this huge federal gov. democrats destroyed this country. but many even on here will say it's Bush's fault or the Republicans' fault.
An amendment in the same vein as the McCain-Feingold act?
1. No limits for source of donations, or amounts.
2. The winner of any election is essentially the person who raises the most money.
3. Winner is declared by virtue of the largest check donated to the government office they are seeking.
4. Money is used to pay down the debt of the government office they are seeking.
The mechanics of this process would be in the form of a televised auction at the end of the election period.
The Obama economy has hit Vegas HARD.
