A man who could have coached at the Division I level, but chose not to, Don Meyer had as much influence on the game of basketball as any other coach in college history. Meyer, who died of cancer Sunday at the age of 69, leaves behind an unequaled legacy....
Meyer returned to coaching, in a wheelchair, and surpassed Bob Knight as the all-time winningest coach in NCAA history in 2009. Meyer retired in 2010 second only to Duke's Mike Krzyzewski in wins.
Overall, Meyer won a combined 923 games over 38 years at Hamline, Lipscomb University, and Northern State. Even though he coached at smaller schools, his influence was felt by major Division I programs.
Among those who consider Meyer a mentor are Krzyzewski and Pat Summit.

Condolences to family and friends of Don Meyer.
RIP.
Those who knew him speak more about his influence and his character than about his coaching ability. But I found this additional information relating to his coaching career:
“Lipscomb won an NAIA national championship under Meyer in 1986, and the two highest-scoring players in the history of college basketball, John Pierce and Philip Hutcheson, played for Meyer. The Lipscomb team of 1989-1990 is the highest scoring team in college history.” (Buster Olney. ESPN)
Met him and heard him speak on several occasions... What a true, caring, Christian man. May his family rest in the comfort of knowing he is living pain free in Heaven, and that they will see him again one day...
God Bless
