The team moves quickly -- they can only spray at dawn, when the locusts are immobile on the ground, their wings weighed down by the morning dew. The pesticide only affects insects, according to the mission, neutralising their nervous system. Villagers then collect the grasshoppers and feed them to their pigs.

A plan is a plan no matter what the consequences might be. I can’t imagine any weakness with this one. I got nothing. :)

We used to have locusts too, in this country. Then we plowed up the places where they sheltered underground, and planted crops. That eliminated the locusts.

And I’m sure the insecticide will only kill the locusts and no other insects.

It’s a nerve agent. I’ve put a puny bit on my tongue once (I do things like that, carefully). It numbed the spot.

The idea that it won’t poison the hogs is a bit much for me.

FWIW, aerial spraying to combat disease-spreading insects has been done in SE MA among other places for years.
