The Republican who will lead an investigation of the 2012 attacks on U.S. diplomatic quarters in Benghazi was known for courtroom theatrics in his time as a prosecutor, portending dramatic hearings on an issue that already has strained partisan civility in Washington.
Republicans hope to gain political traction before congressional elections in November by accusing the White House of muddying the facts to protect President Barack Obama after the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and three other Americans were killed in the attacks by Islamic militants.
Democrats have not said whether they will take any seats on the Republican-majority special committee, saying the new probe - following several other congressional investigations on Benghazi - is also aimed at damaging former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's chances if she runs for president in 2016.
Representative Trey Gowdy, the 49-year-old from South Carolina chosen by House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner to chair the panel, is a Christian conservative elected to Congress in 2010 on the wave of the Tea Party movement.
Gowdy came with a reputation for tenacity, and dug into various probes of the Obama administration. He is outspokenly critical of its handling of the Benghazi matter.

Spartanburg attorney Rick Vieth, who has also run as a Democrat, joked that "I didn't know what I was getting into" when Gowdy won a murder conviction against his client, Bob Harry Fowler, in 1997. Fowler was accused of killing a man to stop him testifying in a drug trial.

"He is going to be a great fact-finder, and let the chips fall where they may. If it's favorable to Obama, fine; if not, fine," Vieth said.

Unlike John Edwards court theatrics?
“...was known for courtroom theatrics in his time as a prosecutor,..”
For some reason they just can’t bring themselves to mention that he was a Federal Prosecutor.
I guess they figure if they don’t disclose that, they can portray him as a small town hick prosecutor from Podunk.
Wow...the liberals are terrified!!!
This here committee's gonna put the Obamatics off their game.
A FEW OF THEIR FAVORITE THINGS: Lock-stepping party loyalty, ***-kissing, sucking up, smartly marching to the party-line drumbeat.
As they head into the swamps of 2016, it's gettin' harder and harder for poor Dummycrats.
Kinda reminds me of Peter Sellers trying to subdue
his natural instincts to salute smartly to der leader.
The Reuters reporter, Susan Cornwell, is a space alien. How do I know this? Because she’s from Upside Down Bizarro World. Proof: “partisan civility”. Investigating Benghazi is going to “strain partisan civility” and is the fault of Republicans. However, when Democrats call Republican Nazis, KKK, racists, hate women, starve children, those are simply facts that do NOT “strain partisan civility”. Only a space alien or insane evil liberal could write something. That’s why I say, Susan Cornwell is a space alien, because we all know that liberals are reality-based, follow science and are more tolerants that the rest of us bitter clingers.
If investigation and exposing truth give political traction so be it!
Just like Jeremiah wrights daughter conviction brings roosters home to roosts, there should always be crowing at the exposure of wrong doing. No one should be above the law!
I have been trying to wake people up to what is going on for years. Being called a doom and gloomer was my only result. Even the managed health care that is coming, the response is, “It is the insurance companies and drug companies”. As far as Obama is concerned, it goes, “What has he done that is so bad?”, “If the Republicans would stop fighting him, he could get something done.” So , good luck with the waking up.
NOTE: In advertising circles, one response is counted as 100----b/c at least 99 agreed but didn't bother to respond.
============================================
The power-mad Clintons' grasp for power over and over again is terrifying.
If the Dummycrats had any sense whatsoever they would know that since the 11th century, the system of "Checks and Balances" was initiated in the Great Council Halls of Venice to keep the all-powerful Doges in check.
We need checks and balances now more then ever----to keep the power-crazed Clintons and lock-stepping Dummycrats from trampling us under their feet.
And this summary dismissal seems fair:
“...Republicans hope to gain political traction before congressional elections in November by accusing the White House of muddying the facts”.
It’s just a political game about muddy facts. Not about a dubious mission regarding arms and Islamists, a failed Middle East policy, a security debacle due to PC fantasies of top officials, general misjudgement and incompetence, holding back available rescue forces, an orchestrated campaign of lying to the American people and Congress, fake State Department “investigations”, cover-ups and stonewalling, firing regional commanders for not playing along, preventing witnesses form testifying, etc. Reuters, muddying the facts for political purposes.
...were opposing attorneys, and at least two of the three quoted were Democrats as well, per the article. I'd bet that those were the first two boxes on her checklist of people to interview for this hit piece.
Hitpiece.
As per usual.
the first leftist volley attempting to discredit Gowdy...it will be interesting to see if the msm picks it up and if Gowdy goes the way of Palin and Cruz...etc.
They haven’t portrayed him as a “sex maniac” or a “space alien that gives cigarettes to children” yet,
but it’s probably coming.

Excellent. Just what is needed. Theatrics tend to get publicized, even by the bias MSM, because they are interesting and attracted readers and viewers.
Here we go, the discrediting of Gowdy begins. Actually Trey Gowdy is known for prevailing in the courtroom.
Does anyone know when these hearings are scheduled to begin?
