Tea Party Express Jumps Shark, Endorses Illegal Alien Amnesty

My second biggest complaint about Republican amnesty supporters is how lazy they are.

Take Sal Russo’s big pro-amnesty article. It’s virtually identical to the same amnesty pitches coming in from the GOP over the years.

The only difference is that Russo throws in stuff about “misty-eyed ideals of some of the liberal do-gooder reformers” for cred while championing the exact same amnesty policy.  And he mentions “What is good for America should be the sole criteria for immigration reform.”

What’s good for America somehow involves permanent Democratic Party rule.

It’s six paragraphs of the same stuff about border security (under Obama) and our desperate need for Third World doctors and engineers.

It’s the same tired set of cliches. Stop me if you’ve heard any or all of these.

“The U.S. immigration system is flawed and broken”

“a rational visa policy”

“Border security must be an essential element of any immigration reform.”

These are pre-chewed talking points being vomited up all over again. They’re soulless and lifeless. And it gets worse once Russo makes his amnesty pitch.

Finally, we need to make the 11 million people who are here illegally obey the law, pay taxes and come out of the shadows. We have to get them right by the law in exchange for legal status, but not unbridled amnesty. This should include penalties, background checks to root out criminals, and the requirement that they learn English, understand the Constitution and be committed to our basic freedoms. We must ensure there is no special pathway to citizenship that puts them in front of people who waited in line.

Every dishonest phrase here has already been said by Rubio and co. Every point here has already been discredited. But that doesn’t stop Russo from using the same exact language that was worked out years ago by pollsters and consultants to sell the same rejected message.

At this point I would be more likely to trust an amnesty advocate if he would just admit that he was pitching amnesty, instead of the same old lines about going to the back of the line and no special pathway to citizenship.

Behind it all stands one man. Of course.

Norquist and his guests — Tea Party Express Co-Founder and Strategist Sal Russo, America Online Founder Steve Case and American Conservative Union Chairman Al Cardenas — strained to get the point across that the issue is not dead on Capitol Hill, and that House GOP leaders continue to plod along on a path to bring legislation to the floor.

All that this has really accomplished is to completely discredit Tea Party Express as an arm of the GOP establishment.

On Wednesday evening, Jenny Beth Martin, the co-founder of another leading tea party organization, Tea Party Patriots, released her own statement “clarifying” the group’s stance.

“We support legal immigration and the rule of law, according to the Constitution. There is already a legal path to citizenship for those wishing to come to the United States. Anyone who decides to get off that path and enter the United States illegally should not be given any sort of amnesty because doing so is neither fair nor equal treatment under the law.

“We must also demand the Obama administration enforce our current immigration laws. Those who are determined to have entered the country illegally and are on-track for deportation should be deported. Those who have been convicted of crimes and are serving sentences for their crimes should remain incarcerated until their sentences have been served.

“Conservatives are watching Congress like a hawk and will do everything to make sure immigration reform is done in a manner that respects the law and those who abide by it.”

So, question: Is Tea Party Express a fake Tea Party organization, or just one that differs in opinion?

Once the WALL is built and monitored, I can fall between the “every one of them gets thrown out, and their kids nd dogs too” and the “let them all stay and become citizens except the criminals” (yeah, I know, coming in was criminal, but you know what I mean). Border security FIRST. Then decide who gets to stay, who has to go, and enforce it.

None of that will happen under the current regime.

Yep, Rubio lied about all of that.(and no-one in GOP contradicted it either)

Any amnesty that includes path to citizenship without leaving the country is a jump ahead in line.

Yesterday I heard Rubio saying we need a higher retirement age for medicare and Social security, naturally starting 10 years from now ala Ryan. Now that really mixes well with amnesty.

The big tea party machines were more astroturf than we’d like to admit. Dick Armey and Sal Russo are just two examples of long-time GOP insiders running things.

Sorry, what I meant was give up tea party label or name because it's been invaded. There should be one true conservative patented name, like “The Constitutionalists” or something like that. A name true conservatives can count on that meet the standards of the constitution. They endorse candidates in every state. We must get organized today or we will end up with another rino on November.

The Senate amnesty bill is dangerously flawed, and its glaring omissions WRT protecting US ntl security, cannot ever serve as the basis for useful legislation.

By legalizing illegal aliens w/out shoring up law enforcement, we hand an engraved invitation to global Third Worlders----all of 'em salivating to ride the US gravy train.....each seperatist group conniving to achieve its hidden agenda.

Amnesty recklessly opens the door wide for illiterate, low-skilled aliens, born and bred in savage cultures, here to suck up US benefits and take jobs away from Americans.

The Senate amnesty bill is a blueprint----it amply demonstrates that illegal separatist populations intend to usurp the US political system to advance their own hidden agenda.

Republican Sen Charles Grassley tried to protect Americans w/ this amendment to the amnesty bill: "Congress should not thumb its nose at the millions of Americans who are victims of identity theft, often perpetrated by an undocumented person who steals Social Security numbers to get jobs, govt benefits, driver's licenses and more. This amendment will simply require the person applying for RPI status to disclose any previously used Social Security numbers," said Grassley. "It's the first step to helping clean up the mess that's been created for the victim of identity theft. The amendment also authorizes certain federal agencies, upon receipt of this information, to notify individuals who were the victims."

SEN SCHUMER WENT PROSTRATE, GOT OUT THE LIP BALM, AND PUCKERED UP: Dismissing Sen Grassley's proposal, Sen Schumer (Dimwit-NY) said: "When people are living in undocumented status, there are times, I suppose, when they've made up identities, made up Social Security numbers. How are they going to remember all that? (The) purpose of this bill is to bring people out of the shadows. We all know when they lived in the shadows, they had to forge documents, forge Social Security numbers, et cetera. I just don't see how, when you've lived here 10 years, and you've had many different identities, many different numbers, you're going to remember them all," said Schumer.

I think that’s a big reason why the TP hasn’t evolved in the direction it should, as a shadow party within the GOP that organizes and consolidates its cloud within the party over the next four years, while forming the infrastructure to challenge and replace the GOP after that if the in-party approach doesn’t succeed.

The TP movement was still worthwhile, it simply has needed better and noncompromised leadership to hold up to the GOPe’s effort to kill off its own creation.

We went to the first Tea Party march and one other. After that the Tea Party seemed to become disorganized. There evidently was an organized effort to discredit the Tea Party. The Dems were calling it racist, the RINOs were trying to disassociate with the Tea Party, and the IRS was destroying it economically. I get request for donations from many of the Tea Party groups but haven't donated yet because I didn't know which ones were a waste of time.

Tea Party Express was always a Republican operation to try to take advantage of the Tea Party wave and leverage it toward the party agenda. The real Tea Parties are grass roots and are as hard to lead as a room full of cats.
