Local Police Departments 'Armed for War' on Domestic Terror
NewsMax ^ | 18 May 2014 | Greg Richter

Local police departments are beginning to look more like branches of the military as surplus equipment such as Mine Resistant Vehicles are seen on the streets of small towns across the country.

A report on Infowars.com ties the purchases to what police see as a growing domestic terror threat, specifically war veterans with the knowledge of how to make improvised explosive devices.

"When I first started we really didn’t have the violence that we see today," Sgt. Dan Downing of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department told Fox 59 in Indianapolis for a story titled "Armed for War."

Story continues below video.

"To come and take away their firearms … that absolutely is not the reason why we got this vehicle. We got this vehicle because of the need and because of increased violence that we have been facing over the last few years … I'll be the last person to come and take anybody’s guns."

Well, they did such a great join withe Boston bombers - they ignored the Russians screaming at us to look at those guys.

Instead Obama’s reaction when he heard about it was “Must be a tax protest”. Forget Muslim extremism - the problem is those terrible tea-partiers! Old people sitting in lawn chairs protesting higher taxes is our number one national security issue!

Of course we should give these clowns more money and equipment.

I think Downing’s thought processes are skewed by the liberal BS that is spouted out of Washington DC. Veterans are not the issue. In fact, I would be willing to bet that veterans have a lower crime rate than other segments of the community.

The threat is not most of the citizens. The threat comes from allowing illegal immigration and having an open border. We have documented proof of Saudis and Pakistanis and other radical islamists living in Mexico and learning to talk and act like Mexicans. They then cross our border.

They are not coming here to better their way of life. They are coming here to destroy ours.

And IEDs have caused how many police cruisers to be destroyed in the last few years?

This is a story of the Montgomery co. Texas sheriffs office crashing it's DHS granted surveillance drone into Lake Conroe.

But...take a look at the pic. The paramilitary officers, the military grade equipment/weapons, the armored vehicle in the background.

Protect and serve? Or Control and oppress?

Local law enforcement does not need Federal grants for military equipment to patrol civilians.

Conservatives need to make a big push at the state level to pass “Police de-Paramilitarization” laws.

1) States create lists of what weapons and equipment local police forces are legally allowed to have. Any weapons or equipment not on the list will be turned over to their county Sheriff or the State Police, and they will store it in their facilities.

2) Local police departments must go through the state police to have any interface with federal authorities, especially including equipment, funding, intelligence information and communications equipment. Likewise, all *efforts* at interface from either the federals or the local police must be immediately reported to the state police.

3) State police academies will have their curricula reviewed to insure that police are not being trained in paramilitary functions.

>> growing domestic terror threat

Really? The only thing growing is militarization of PDs. It’s more than just equipment, it’s a mindset. Just look at those morons in Albuquerque, who should be charged with murder.

We aren’t going to be able to stop the proliferation of the military weapons to local police forces.

It’s important, however, to change those things we can, and in this case one thing to change is our perception of those weapons.

We need to begin thinking of them as resources for our side, resources being maintained and fueled for us to use when they are needed.

However, there is another possibility - bomb dogs. In 1941, the Soviets trained dogs to run under tanks by only feeding them under running tanks. They then let packs of dogs loose around the German armored units. Strapped to the back of each dog was an antitank mine with a trip bar. When the dog ran under a German tank looking for food the mine would detonate killing the dog and presumably the tank. The Gremans had to start killing all dogs that came near their vehicles.

Maybe the police are simply taking a page from history.
1) Have extremely tough vehicles.
2) Kill all dogs in area.

And exactly how many cases of veterans committing “domestic terror” have there been since 9/11/2001? Waiting.

. . . police see as a growing domestic terror threat, specifically war veterans with the knowledge of how to make improvised explosive devices.

Another lame-ass excuse to justify their militarization. This unit was bought for $2,000 - cost the taxpayers $700,000 - a nice way to launder money to militarize the police. Since the passage of the 1997 National Defense Authorization Act, $4.2 billion in military property has been transferred to police departments in every state, according to the Defense Logistics Agency website.

It’s happening all over now. Been so for over a decade plus.

Cops are nothing more than modern day Roman Legionaries who can assault, imprison, batter, and kill with impunity if Joe Smith so much as looks at them the wrong way.

How about the case in Miami where two dozen badge thugs opened fire and unleashed over 300 rounds into a car of suspects? The idiots even hit two of their own in the crossfire.

Liberal elites are lying to police departments about vets, conservatives and traditional Americans.

Liberal elites want to kill traditional Americans... and they want to use the police to do it.

“Liberal elites are lying to police departments about vets, conservatives and traditional Americans.”

Except they are recruiting veterans to do the dirty work and there is no limit to that supply. Vets are signing up in droves to join these “police” forces with military training, gear, and tactics.

I think it’s due to the Satanic origins of religion/worldview of “liberalism”, but...

it is the deepest desire of every liberal, from the elite down to the sheeperal,

to see those who oppose them punished and killed by the State.

I sincerely hope you aren’t just figuring this out. You may want to think about making some plans/preparations that the Democrats would view as treasonous ie how to be more self sufficient as opposed to being a subject on “govt. assistance “.
