Former Rep. Steven LaTourette (R-OH) appears to be making good on his vows to "crush" the Tea Party.
A longtime ally of Speaker John Boehner, LaTourette is a driving force behind the outside national groups that have spent more than $2 million to help incumbent Republican Congressman Mike Simpson (R-ID) stave off Tea Party-backed challenger Bryan Smith in Tuesday's Republican primary in Idaho's 2nd Congressional District.
LaTourette parlayed huge contributions from labor unions and at least one Native American tribe (the Chickasaw Nation) to build a powerful political operation intervening in primaries on behalf of GOP Establishment candidates.
Reports filed with the Federal Election Commission by his newly created SuperPAC, Defending Main Street, show that the group, which has received the majority of its $845,000 in contributions since its creation in 2013 from labor unions, has already spent more than $450,000 in its efforts to re-elect Simpson in the Idaho primary. Add to this the enormous sums spent by the Chamber of Commerce and other big business organizations, the amount spent by outside groups in support of Simpson already exceeds $2 million, and could approach $3 million by the time all the expenditures are in.
On his own, Simpson already has a significant financial advantage over Smith. FEC records indicate that his campaign has raised $1.9 million compared to Smith's $780,000. Though Smith has not been without support from outside national groups (Club for Growth has spent $450,000 in support of his campaign), the final tally is likely to show that the total financial resources to keep Simpson in office will exceed $5 million, while the resources behind Smith will barely clear $1 million.

so the crony establishment can say it was the infusion of money to cover up their vote fraud
Money from labor unions is never without strings.
This is why these crooked politicians buy so many ads on TV, like when Juan McAmnesty spent 20 million in his last 'election'. Its not to convince anyone to vote for them. Its to convince people that its possible that many other people did vote for them so when they steal the election it makes it appear at least plausible that they could have won enough votes instead of it being an obvious, blatant rip off.
Here is one who believes the same way. At the top level it is established that the winner has been selected before the vote.
“the final tally is likely to show that the total financial resources to keep Simpson in office will exceed $5 million, while the resources behind Smith will barely clear $1 million.”
Well, I suppose the Empire Strikes Back will continue with wins by McConnell and Uber Squish Mike Simpson, but only by outspending conservative opponents with massive amounts of money.
Juan McCain came up with the model for this in swamping J. D. Hayworth in spending in 2010 (McCain - upwards of $24 million, including a reputed $18 million from his presidential run that he failed to spend running against the jug-earred Marxist; Hayworth - $2.4 million—10 to 1).
But it’s still early and the Chris McDaniel - Thad Cochran race is going to be almost as important as the Bevin - McConnell match-up, so conservatives are still going to have opportunities to crow.
It’s not over until Hillary sings!
The GOP-e is still fighting a losing game, by having to spend fortunes to support even low level RINOs. And they cannot afford to lose many more of their kind, before it is game over.
All the Tea Party has to do is to continue to erode the RINOs, and eventually conservatives will control the Republican party. Then the purge of the RINOs will begin, as well as the punishment of their backers.
Say no to Democrats who are running as Republicans. We don’t need more Dems, we need people DEFENDING the Constitution, not the UN.
