Plan to name cove after Mark Twain scrapped after tribe complains (He was Racist)
Fox News ^ | Joshua Miller

"Samuel Clemens had racist views on the native people of this country and has captured those views in his literature," Cruz wrote in a letter to the board. He also took exception to a Twain quote about Lake Tahoe: "People say that Tahoe means 'Silver Lake' — 'Limpid Water' — 'Falling Leaf.' Bosh! It means grasshopper soup, the favorite dish of the digger tribe — and of the Pi-utes as well."

This is getting ridiculous, I met the [Mark Twain] once and he was certainly not a racist.

Yes, but when I had dinner with Napoleon Bonaparte, he constantly dropped the N-bomb.

Gracious words but not so much to brag about.

I knew his pa, we played football together at Grambling.

Clem--Johnny was his name, but we called him Clem, or sometimes Clam, at other times even Kadiddlehopper--was a handsome, popular and kindly soul, even as a young man.

Why at times he would hurry to get on the team bus first, just so's he could get to the back seat first. He'd light up his corncob pipe and hold forth about his backward, hardscrabble upbringing, and about his grand plans for the future in the great nation of America.

Of course our cheerleaders sat near the back as well, and that might have had something to do with his preferences. He never could run nor throw nor catch very well, but he was hell charming the girls by telling tales and blowing smoke.

In his later years I think he made mention of you.

Little red-headed scamp forever endeavoring to lead astray his sweet impressionable Sam.

Oh no! My very liberal relative will be crushed! A lover of native American art and Mark Twain...what will he do??!

I thought all liberals now claimed that Mark Twain was a Marxist. Shouldn't that absolve him of any racist sins?

This is revisionist pc nonsense.

Anyone who has really read ‘Huckleberry Finn’ knows that Jim was the center of nobility throughout the whole novel.
