BREAKING: Dinesh D'Souza Pleads Guilty to Violating Campaign Finance Law
Townhall ^ | Tuesday, May 20. 2014 | Katie Pavlich

Author and conservative filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza plead guilty this morning to federal charges accusing him of violating campaign finance laws and making false statements. D'Souza admitted in front of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, that he did in fact ask two people to make contributions in their name and later reimbursed them, knowing it was not proper under the law. Judge Richard Berman accepted his guilty plea and set a sentencing date for September 23, 2014. The government argued attorneys would be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the defendant, D'Souza, is guilty.

"Guilty your honor," D'Souza said, adding that he deeply regrets his actions.

"The plea is now accepted and Mr. D'Souza is now guilty under the indictment," Berman replied.

Didn't Gore accept $5000 donations from Buddhists nuns? I don't recall anything happening to the people who gave them the money to make the donations.

I assume this means that he has lost his right to vote. However, even though he’s no longer qualified to participate in our electoral system, he still has his first amendment rights and can still offer his opinion to those of us who can participate.

I surmise a bargain was struck where he won’t do jail time, but he will be impoverished by fines. The law is being applied selectively. The demonRATs do this kind of thing with total impunity, and without fear of ever being investigated or punished when discovered.

In the old Soviet Union this was called a "show trial." Its purpose was to show the public the indomitable power of government and instill fear of the government.

It depends on what state he resides in. All states deal with felonies, prison and voting differently.

I was shocked by the $500,000 bond...I have seen people under indictment for murder with lower bonds. In the meantime good old Harry Reid has millions in shady campaign deals and not a peep from the FEC.

Not as surprising as some might think.

His whole stupid thesis on “anti colonialism” should discredit him considering his Indian background and living in America

They have already got what they wanted - nothing D'Souza ever says again will be listened to because of the "convicted campaign fraudster" tag that will be applied to his name.

D'Souza already discredited himself when he was boinking another woman at a family values conference while both were married to other people.

Who does he think he is, Jesse Jackson?

I’m sure there’s some good strategy in this. Dinesh is a smart guy.

Much money came into Obama’s campaign from overseas. Many many millions of dollars of illegal donations came into the campaign from overseas. The methodology the campaign set up was not to report the source which is a violation of the law.

Where in the hell is Eric Holder on this? Perhaps, “All Animals are equal but some are more equal than others?”

Follow link below to ABC (which is left wing) and their report of the campaign violations.

His right to vote, right to hold public office, right to possess a firearm and right to sit on a jury have been revoked.

Even if he was guilty, two people is all? This was a political prosecution andhe may have made a pragmatic decision to accept a plea deal rather than be bankrupted with attorney fees.

How so? Now he can’t vote, hold public office, possess a firearm or sit on a jury.

I would prefer bankruptcy over losing my right to vote and own a firearm.

But he can get back to exposing zero with no double jeopardy risk.

If zero goes after him again, it would be seen as persecution.

I hate that this is even happening, but remember what VJ said about payback being hell.

I would think he would submit a No Contest Plea.

Well, more fodder for the Communists. Too bad...
