Rape. Decades ago, women who were raped and reported it, particularly those raped by someone outside their race or social class, were often disbelieved and shamed. That is tragic.
But how far the pendulum has swung in the other direction! Now, the term rape or sexual assault is thrown around almost effortlessly, accusations easily made and lives easily ruined.
First, the pendulum shift began with feminists pushing the notion that women claiming they were raped should always be believed and never questioned. Presumption of innocence, a foundation of our culture, suddenly went out the window. Consider how quickly the public tried and found guilty the Duke lacrosse boys. Ditto for a woman alleging sexual harassment. Watch the Designing Women episode concerning the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill controversy. The shows theme? Only a sexist Neanderthal would question Hill!
Then followed the loosened standards for arrests in rape accusations. Sure, district attorneys still require evidence of a rape to prosecute, but police are not restricted by such to make a mere arrest (so, smile for your life-ruining mug shot!).
Close on its heels came the broadening of the very definition of rape, a term on which there is now almost no consensus, thanks to the Lefts deliberate expansion of it. Prominent scholars and activists now even define rape as including any sexual activity in which the woman is not sober, claiming that consent is never truly given if one has had a few drinks.

There is a rape crisis on nearly every college campus excpet Hillsdale.
Every day, THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of impressionable, naive young minds are being RAPED by devious left wing Marxists masquerading as professors and administrators.
I’m an adviser for a fraternity.
Yeah, it’s a problem. We have “roofie” fraternities.
re: Yeah, its a problem. We have roofie fraternities.
What does that mean?
Roofies are used to drug women into unconsciousness.
Thanks. I am pretty naive about drug culture.
The collectivists should go check out Sweden being the rape capitol of Europe because of the importation of Muzzies.
Pat Condell has something to say about that.
Sweden goes insane

I wonder if it isn’t a “regret” epidemic.
Yes, there is and has long been a lot of sexual misconduct on and around college campuses. The campus is where a lot of young people arrive, fresh from home and a supportive family and community or school environment, and enter a far less constrained or protective environment. The age and sex-drive of the students, the lack of a college culture that promotes adult integrity, and immersion in a student culture that does not promote safety and even encourages dangerous behavior—all serve to increase the occurrence of harm to young people.
The Swedes are a disgrace to their Viking Ancestors. Ragnar Lodbrok would have castrated all those bastard, fed them their testicles, then used them for fishbait.
Two things
A. Many college age women drink too much and pass out. Some guys take advantage of that. There's no question that isn't consent.
B. Roofies are still more common than they should be.
"Regrets" are a problem, but that doesn't mean there aren't legitimate concerns as well.
That should be mandatory viewing for everyone in this country.
What a sad,sad commentary on a once terrific nation.
I started becoming aware of Sweden’s problems through the Henning Mankell novels.
.
If there was we’d never hear about it.
I know of a particular Catholic women’s college where cops you speak with are aware of a parking lot that has for decades experienced a VERY high number of rapes.
The school and local authorities apparently conspired to keep that out of the press.
College is big business
Conservatives make smarter feminists.
