Boehner doesn't rule out immigration vote

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday held out the possibility that Congress could vote on a proposal to give green cards to young illegal immigrants who serve honorably in the military.

Boehner is coming under pressure to allow a vote on the Defense authorization bill from a bipartisan group of lawmakers, including Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.), who has championed the issue.

Boehner said the Defense bill is the wrong spot for the vote, calling it "inappropriate," but he didn't rule out a vote on stand-alone administration. “There have been discussions about that, but no decisions,” he said.

Denham, who introduced the same proposal during last year’s defense authorization debate but yanked it in deference to colleagues, said he would “prefer” to see the issue taken up solo.

“That’s not a discussion we have had yet but it certainly would be a willing compromise,” he told reporters after the event. “I want a date certain of when a standalone bill would be” brought to the floor.

Denham has vowed to get his amendment, known as the ENLIST Act, into the fiscal year 2015 defense bill despite opposition from GOP leadership.

“They’re willing to put their lives on the line for our freedom. Why wouldn’t we have that as part of our national defense authorization bill?” Denham asked during a Capitol Hill press conference. He was joined by Reps. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.), Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) and Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.).

Denham and Gutierrez also expressed optimism about a Defense Department review that would enlarge the application pool for some illegal immigrants to join the armed services.

Boner thinks that he can shove amnesty down our throats and still win in November. He doesn’t give a damned if the Rats get 12 million new instant voters which will virtually guarantee that Congress and the presidency will resemble California for decades to come.

I wish they WOULD vote on amnesty prior to the election. At least we’ll have a clear view as to who the enemies are. But no... like the cowards they are, they’ll vote for it during the lame-duck session.

Coffman and Denham deserve to lose. If you had to pick 2 races where you vote for the Democrat to oust a RINO those are definite picks.

John Boehner is 64 years old. He will be reelected in 2014 and very likely reelected to be Speaker in 2015. He recently purchased a luxury condo on Marco Island in southwest Florida.

If Hillary wins in 2016, and the Dems retake the House, Boehner will be 66 years old. Like the last Republican Speaker Dennis Hastert before him, he won’t want to be the former Speaker in a Democrat House. He’ll resign before the the January swearing in, join a K Street lobbying firm or a Washington law firm. and spend 2-3 years collecting millions in “consulting” money. In Washington this means a few meetings between Boehner and some big shot clients and then some 20 something, fresh out of school, spends weeks researching a position paper and developing a Powerpoint presentation for Boehner to present to the client. Meanwhile Boehner sips rum runners on the beach at Marco.

Boehner is in the last 10-15 years of his lifespan. If the world comes crashing down while Boehner is still breathing, he’ll have his condo in a gated community and his offshore bank accounts to live on.

Why is Boehner for amnesty? The people who are going to pay him all those big consulting fees want amnesty. Boehner has taken care of himself. If the rest of the country goes to hell, so be it.

Yep, millions of dollars are riding on it. The corporatists will not be denied.
