Florida Lawmaker Warns Common Core Will Turn Children ‘Homosexual’

Over the past few months, the new U.S. education standard known as the “Common Core” has attracted its fair share of negative attention by opponents.

But Florida Republican State Rep. Charles Van Zant took the Common Core critique to a new level by claiming that the educational initiative promoted by the Obama administration will turn your children “homosexual.”

Van Zant made the comments at an Orlando education conference back in March, but the video of his remarks went viral on Tuesday. Van Zant told his audience that the American Institutes for Research (AIR), that implements the Common Core in Florida, “will promote double-mindedness in state education and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can.”

I'd have said that the current culture in American not only tolerates, but encourages, perverts who prey on young men/boys under the umbrella of what they twistedly call 'love'. Which is just the opposite of love, but the embodiment of feeding one's lust at the expense of another individual. I have no doubt that the fallout of this sick behaviour can lead to the victim's sense of self-loathing and descent into depravity himself...
So maybe 'Common Core' falls under the current American culture -- but I'd just call it our culture - and its enablers (Media, Academia, Politicians, and renegade Judges).

Oh, good Odin! Look, common core sucks, but it’s not going to turn kids gay anymore than playing with sand will turn them Saudi.

Thank you for referencing that article Oldeconomybuyer. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

The only reasons that I can think of that Florida Republican State Rep. Charles Van Zant doesn't simply argue that the states have never delegated to the feds, via the Constitution, the specific power to decide intrastate school policy is the following. With all due respect to Florida patriots, Van Zant must be as much of a low-information lawmaker as the citizens who elected him likely are.

How do you "turn" someone homosexual? I mean, you are or you're aren't.

It's idiots like this who can't think beyond their next bowel movement that give conservatives a bad name.

It will turn them homosexual? At least confused, and definitely confused, and permanently.

That’s the purpose.

Stupid? Yes, it will continue in the recent tradition of discouraging them from thinking in any way.

but that’s not a problem compared with the sexual perversion they are forming these prepubescent beings with

Small kids can be influenced by adults. They are like sponges.

I do not believe people can be turned to homosexuality. They can be forced but you either are or you aren’t and I believe around 3% of our population is homosexual. It seems much larger because of the promotion of it by media, academia and the government. Can a 3% homosexual population totally force a nation into compliance with that particular sexual preference by those who want to be heterosexual. I guess they can if they have jobs powerful enough in this society so that they can take your livelihood and your freedom if you do not comply. I weep for my country.

I don’t agree. Young people are incredibly malleable at puberty and gays are specialists in seducing the young and vulnerable. After they are successful to get a young person sexually involved, it’s not too difficult to imagine that the victims will cope by telling themselves that they were really gay to begin with.

Why do you think there are so many activities dedicated to convincing young people to get closer to gays? Why do you think our parents warned us about strangers? I had the misfortune to be on my own when I was 17 in Hollywood many years ago. A day never went by without some attempt by a gay. Luckily, I was able to fight them off. They are relentless.
