U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston and former Dollar General CEO David Perdue have advanced to a Republican runoff in Georgia's hotly contested Senate race, Perdue had more than 30 percent of the vote to Kingston's nearly 26 percent.
Kingston drawing on his establishment support and the backing of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to fight off the "outsider" campaign of Perdue, the cousin of former Gov. Sonny Perdue. Neither has the support of the state's tea party crowd, which saw its best hope fade with former Secretary of State Karen Handel.

If they have an anti-amnesty troublemaker or they have an anti-amnesty steady hand they take the steady hand.
The chamber doesn’t need single vote from the south on amnesty.
The chamber also doesn’t want to align itself with an elistist like Perdue. The chamber has an ego and if Perdue lost to Nunn that ego would be hurt.
As this debate moves forward, I will work with my conservative colleagues and my home state Senator Jeff Sessions to advocate for strong and accountable border security protections first, and to force President Obama to do his job enforcing our existing laws.

Bonner was part of a flurry of establishment GOP support that rallied to Byrnes side during the runoff. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent at least $199,000 on his behalf, while big companies such AT&T and Home Depot donated thousands to Byrnes campaign down the stretch.
Byrne often cast himself as a workhorse in an effort to contrast with Young, who he characterized as a show horse.

I’d trust John “The Invasion” Barrow over Saxby Chambliss on immigration but that never happened and that wouldn’t be the only criteria.
Nunn cites Rubio(Liar) and McCain (least popular) as doing good work on immigration.
Id never trust a Senate Democrat not to pander to black voters on voter ID, affirmative action or minority appointments.
I wasn’t trying to comment on the merits of the candidates, just illustrating how hard it’s become for outsiders to raise money.
TPTB are working behind the scenes to blackball anyone that’s not part of the team.
Kingston’s wife is from Savannah. Kingston is originally from Texas. He attended the University of Georgia.
“Kingstons wife is from Savannah. Kingston is originally from Texas. He attended the University of Georgia.”
I think Kingston was one year old when his family moved from Texas. He grew up in Athens, where his father was a very distinguished professor.
That may be your view of Perdue. It is not mine.
Do I trust hime to be better than Chambliss? Most definitely. Do I trust him to be better than Kingston (who has lived off of taxpayers money for the last 20 years and has lined his pockets in the usual ways)? Yes.
There was no true conservative running in this primary....The guys who have spent their careers at the trough and Phil who decided it was mor important to be senator than a good house member....bleeech
The truth is I trust no politician....and once they are in office they are politicians. We will see what transpires
Handel had plenty of money. Outsiders can raise money but they have to work harder at it.
It will never be perfect. Maybe Mark Levin’s suggestion from yesterday is the way to insure certain RINOs don’t return to their public trough
He doesn’t have a Savannah accent. That’s why I thought he had lived longer in Texas.
Any Conservative that trusts a RINO is a fool. I’ve seen these business liberals before, and Perdue is just another one (and exploited the name of his cousin, too). If his name was David Smith, he’d have never gotten as far as he did.
As I said elsewhere, we need to change the method and manner with which we run candidates. They need to be drafted and face a pre-primary convention to determine who goes on the primary ballot. The current selection process is too flawed and ends up unrepresentative of the majority base preference.
I didn’t say that I trusted ANY politician. I expressed my preference for one over the other. Could Perdue be the worst ever??? Sure thing. But I don’t vote for pols who have been in DC for TWENTY YEARS!!!! That’s my view and always has been.
