Friend, I Accept
Email | Mitch McConnell

Posted on 05/21/2014 7:08:05 PM PDT by ObamahatesPACoal

Thank you. I am humbled to once again accept your nomination to represent Kentucky in the United States Senate.

I just walked off stage, and I wanted to let you know how grateful that I am for your support. You and I both understand how important it is to take back the Senate in 2014 and fix the problems created by the big government liberal policies that have run amok. Now more than ever, anything that you are able to contribute to my campaign will help us win in November.

This is just the first step on the road to victory in November. President Obama and Harry Reid's hand-picked candidate, Alison Lundergan Grimes, has been fundraising with the top liberal donors in places like Hollywood, New York City and Chicago. She's running to do their bidding, and if we end up with her as our Senator in 2014 then this is what we can look forward to:

A continuation of the 'war on coal.'

More spending and debt.

And Obamacare will be the new norm.

And the icing on the cake: Harry Reid will retain control of the United States Senate.

Is this what you want for Kentucky and for America? I didn't think so. Please, contribute to our campaign now and help us fight back:

The fact is, dozens of bills passed n the house do NOT even get a chance to debate in the Senate. Harry Reid has the power to stop any bill coming up for debate. And he has used this power ruthlessly. At least McConnell is likely to be better than Reid. Then bills have a chance to pass the senate. Then Obummer must veto them and it is on record for every low information voter to see.

Buckley's kid is no conservative.

Correct, Chris Buckley is a buffoon. His endorsement of Obama proved that beyond any doubt.

Of course that has nothing to do with the Buckley Rule.

Does the idiocy of Ron Reagan Jr. in any way diminish the presidency and legacy of Ronald Reagan? No, of course not.

The same is true with William F. Buckley.

Great men are not remembered for the stupidity of their offspring.

"If you stay on the sidelines, then don’t you become irrelevant?"

Congratulations, Mitch would no doubt approve of that sentiment.

Firstly, I said nothing about staying on the sidelines. I'll vote downticket, but no damned liberal, regardless of party affiliation, will ever get my vote. It's just not happening.

Secondly, my concern is not being "relevant", but rather holding onto my principles.

Great post Catherine.

I'm leaving GOPe behind for the sake of my children and grandson. I just turned 60, and want to leave a better country to them. GOPe will run us over a cliff at 30MPH, while Democrats are breaking the sound barrier.

There is no doubt in my mind that the average politicians are conducting themselves much like the looters and moochers in Atlas Shrugged, trying to keep things afloat for one more term, or until they can find unwary producers to leech off.

Votes for GOPe are similar to Henry Rearden's travails prior to the epiphany he finally encountered, thanks to the lessons provided by Francisco d'Anconia.

I am not retiring to the sidelines, I'm freeing up the GOPe to rev up their engine of destruction, so I will be there to assist my family in reconstruction. They will need my guidance, wisdom, and leadership to survive the looming hard times.

I will also be there to support conservatives as they do battle in the public square. As long as they're willing to fight, so are we.

Do you hear me, John Cornyn? Do you hear me, David Dewhurst?

At least I know Ted Cruz hears us!.

Unfortunately, there are too many who seem to be stuck in this rut of reelecting big government, establishment Republicans in the hopes something will change. As if there will finally be a return to our rightful course with the GOP-e at the helm. The old lather, rinse, repeat cycle and yet we lurch further leftward.

I'm afraid there is no way to nudge them from this rut. They are left to hope there will be enough votes to put their old, power-guzzling, moss-back, Beltway GOP-e statists over the top without the support many in an increasingly alienated conservative base. As for me, I'm done being a Republican dupe.

I don’t think Mitch needs your vote desperately. So it is ok if you do not vote for him in general.

What I want is to get rid of Harry Reid as senate majority leader. He is stopping all good bills passed by the House. Not even a debate! I will bet my bottom dollar Mitch as majority leader will allow debates and votes on all House bills. If those bills get passed in senate, Obummer will be forced to veto them. It will be on record for all to see.

I do not vote in KY. So I will accept whatever Kentuckians vote for in general. If Mitch loses and GOP still get 51 seats, I have zero problem.

Thank you, Night Hides Not.

I hope we’ll have the opportunity to cast our votes in 2016 for a stalwart like Ted Cruz.

Same here. Like you, it’s incredible to me that these folks expect anything other than gutless capitulation and adoption of Dem principles from their moderate/liberal darlings. “We’re going to hold their feet to the fire”, they say.....LOL, when? How? Has that happened yet?

The GOP-e is all about power, nothing more. Future candidates will have to earn my vote; I’m done throwing it away.

For those who don't understand my Atlas Shrugged references, here's one they should be able to fathom:

My vote for Tea Party fight song goes to "Won't be Fooled Again" by The Who.
