NY City economy used to be very diversified. It now survives solely because of printed FED money and the resulting Wall Street earnings and taxes.
All it will take is an extended 20% bear-market to knock this city completely off its moorings.

HUD has been doing this for years. Did it in Florida one block over from my home when I lived there. Damn disaster, exactly as anyone with half a brain would have predicted.
Drugs, parties, LOUD cars/music all night, just trashed the neighborhood. They would scream racism every time the cops had to come out in the middle of the night. HUD would refuse to do anything. Eventually they were made to leave, but not before they trashed the area and destroyed the quality of life of everyone around them.
So, since it is likely that these areas where De Blasio is going to do this are 90% liberal Dems, I say go for it. It’s a great idea. Put two families in every upper income area. Give the voters just what they voted for.
And you can bet there will be another Federal bailout of NYC.
I am firmly convinced if you gave each hoodrat a million dollars, a home, a job and a car, they'd be broke a year later.

OTOH, now the rich and middle class will only have to take the elevator to buy their grass.
