Joe Garcia Praises Communism, Gets Basic Facts Wrong ( Florida )

U.S. Rep. Joe Garcia (D-FL) misstated basic facts while praising communism in an online video conference this week. Garcia, who represents southernmost Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives, told video conference participants, “We’ve proved that communism works. If you give everybody a good government job, there’s no crime.”

Garcia made his comments while discussing immigration, border security agents, and crime rates in El Paso, Texas.

“Let me give you an example, the kind of money we’ve poured in,” said Garcia. “So the most dangerous — sorry, the safest city in America is El Paso, Texas. It happens to be across the border from the most dangerous city in the Americas, which is Juarez. Right?”

“And two of the safest cities in America, two of them are on the border with Mexico,” Garcia continued. “And of course, the reason is we’ve proved that communism works. If you give everybody a good government job, there’s no crime.”

Garcia’s love for communism aside, he is demonstrably wrong on his basic facts.

This is the same guy who eats ear boogers on video, right?

I thought so. Why would anybody listen to him, anyway?

According to Joe Garcia Communism is working very well in Obamaland, especially in those states and cities where democ-rats are en control of all the power as in California and Chicago. He should go back to Cuba with his parents to enjoy life in the Communist paradise on earth.

The Last Communist City

A visit to the dystopian Havana that tourists never see

http://www.city-journal.org/2014/24_2_havana.html

By MICHAEL J. TOTTEN
Spring 2014

I’ve always wanted to visit Cuba—not because I’m nostalgic for a botched utopian fantasy but because I wanted to experience Communism firsthand. When I finally got my chance several months ago, I was startled to discover how much the Cuban reality lines up with Blomkamp’s dystopia.

In Cuba, as in Elysium, a small group of economic and political elites live in a rarefied world high above the impoverished masses. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, authors of The Communist Manifesto, would be appalled by the misery endured by Cuba’s ordinary citizens and shocked by the relatively luxurious lifestyles of those who keep the poor down by force.

Many tourists return home convinced that the Cuban model succeeds where the Soviet model failed. But that’s because they never left Cuba’s Elysium.

I had to lie to get into the country. Customs and immigration officials at Havana’s tiny, dreary José Martí International Airport would have evicted me had they known I was a journalist. But not even a total-surveillance police state can keep track of everything and everyone all the time, so I slipped through. It felt like a victory.

Havana, the capital, is clean and safe, but there’s nothing to buy. It feels less natural and organic than any city I’ve ever visited. Initially, I found Havana pleasant, partly because I wasn’t supposed to be there and partly because I felt as though I had journeyed backward in time. But the city wasn’t pleasant for long, and it certainly isn’t pleasant for the people living there. It hasn’t been so for decades.

Hey Joe, 90 miles off Florida is - to you - a nice island where 100% of the people are employed. Why not move there? If you do, you can tell the people risking their lives, that they should be happy. They got 'free' healthcare, no 'rich' people, so they should be happy. You can tell them that it's not worthwhile risking life to America (while Obama is president).

Matter of fact, we'll trade a Cuban prisoner in a 4 for one swap. You, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Dan Mallory (governor of CT) for one Cuban prisoner. We will also throw in two liberals to be named later and Jessie Jackson.

I am sure more than a few of Joe’s constituents fled Castro’s Communist Workers Paradise and could give him their first hand experience with the “success” of communism.

If everybody has a good government job, no one will get paid.
This mensa type should go spend a week in Juarez to see what real socialism is like. Then come back to El Paso to see what remnants of freedom is like.

Garcia has had an awful two weeks due to his own blunders. A video taken during a committee hearing showing Garcia digging in his ear and then eating his own earwax took off with millions of viewers taking it in. The South Florida Democrat didn’t help himself by insisting he was actually going after a fingernail.

Then on Tuesday night, Garcia handed the Republicans a golden opportunity in a meandering, often incoherent ramble during a Google Hangout in which he said “communism works” and brought up the idea of giving out government jobs to keep crime low before shooting it down.
