As concealed carry continues to grow in popularity, grandmothers are getting guns and concealed carry permits so they can protect themselves and their grandchildren.

According Fox 8 Cleveland, "More people than ever are now carrying guns," and grandmas comprise "one of the fastest growing groups to get a firearm."

Lake County's Sharon Mather spoke about her granddaughter when she explained why she carries a gun: "[It is] not so much for me, but if I want to take my granddaughter to the park or out for a walk or anything, I felt I need something for protection. What if something happened and I could not protect her?"

Obama truly is the best president that gun advocates could’ve hoped for. When the president is pro-gun, the issue becomes backburner, and the Rats in Congress sneak anti-gun crap on to the president’s desk under the guise of “public safety.”

When Americans are scared of their government, they flock to what they know to be a check against tyranny.

Amen granny! Keep on truckin’!

Good story on the Detroit police chief and his stance on guns. The Cam&Co interview is well worth a listen as well he’s got some interesting stats on the crime rate too.

A while back, there was a debate in anthropology about “the importance of grandmothers” in the nuclear family.

“According to the “Grandmother Hypothesis,” post-menopausal women can increase their genetic contribution to future generations by increasing the survivorship of their grandchildren.

“A team led by biological anthropologist Leslie Knapp in the Department of Biological Anthropology (University of Cambridge) have discovered that a grandmother’s effect on grandchildren varies according to their X-chromosome relatedness.

“Specifically, maternal grandmothers have 25% X relatedness with both grandsons and granddaughters and both grandchildren are equally likely to inherit any one of her X-linked genes.

“Contrastingly, paternal grandmothers will pass on one of her X chromosomes to their granddaughters (making them 50% X-related) but she will not pass this chromosome on to her grandson (making them 0% X-related).

“The presence of a paternal grandmother had a harmful effect on grandsons because her presence was linked with an increase in mortality.

“Meanwhile, the paternal grandmother’s presence in her granddaughter’s early life had a beneficial effect in terms of the risk of mortality.”

Yes, she did, and it paid off for her.

My favorite scene is where she’s intently exercising while locked up — entirely focused. That was the only thing she could do at the time to prepare. What a wonderful tough character.

Hmmm. Interesting. But this part doesn’t make sense, on the face of it (ie, the grandma would protect either sex!!) Faulty conclusion? I’d like to read more, do you have a link?
