Marriage Chaos

Since marriage was redefined in Washington State two years ago, people in Washington State may not be paying attention to what is happening all over the country.

While the picture is not pretty, ignoring it won't be helpful.

By way of quick review, last June the U.S. Supreme Court, inWindsor v. U.S., struck down the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

While the court said it was not interfering with the thirty-two state constitutional amendments defining marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman, it was clear that within the bizarre decision was all the ammunition an activist judge would need in order to unilaterally overturn them.

Opponents of natural marriage have seized the opportunity.

In just the last few weeks, Arkansas, Idaho, Oregon and Pennsylvania have all had their marriage amendments struck down by federal judges.

The Oregon decision can't even be appealed because no state official even defended the law in court. There's no one to appeal.

You may remember that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who refused to defend DOMA despite having the legal obligation to do so, told the state's Attorneys General that they don't have to defend laws if they don't like them.

The Supreme Court will make another ruling at some point.

With so many courts now ruling for homosexual marriage, the Supreme Court will be pressed to declare, that there is a constitutional right to homosexual marriage nationwide.

Last year, they declined to issue such a sweeping ruling.

Also at issue, is that one part of the Defense of Marriage Act is still the law of the land as of now. That is the section which indicates that states don’t have to recognize other states homosexual marriages. Look for that particular issue to be the subject of a lawsuit soon, and for the Supreme Court to take up the matter.

We have anarchy now. No one has to obey any laws because they can just say “I don’t believe in them”. This country is collapsing from within. The LW has finally destroyed the Great United States

What is crazy to me, is this nonsense about lack of standing to defend marriage laws.

This is a very bad legal precedent, in my opinion, over and above the issue of homosexual marriage.

We’re setting legal precedents that, when laws are challenged in court, that the law does not have to be defended in court.

If a law is not defended in court, then, by default, a judgement is entered for the plaintiffs. In this case, those in favor of homosexual marriage win a case by default.

Liberals are happy today about all of this, but, wonder if they would be happy in the future, if a new generation of conservative state officials decline to defend gun control laws, for example. Or if they declined to defend liberal affirmative action laws against lawsuit. Or any other law which liberals like is challenged. It will be interesting some day, when the shoe is on the other foot, so see how happy liberals are that they introduced this legal tactic.

In Seattle we have a queer mayor that’s married to another queer.

I drove through seattle today...what a dump.

I do plenty of battles with the left on the (downward) redefinition of marriage. Many of them demand of me, “So what? if you don’t like it don’t get married”. It is a variation on the theme, “How are you harmed by phags getting married?”

Of course there is no quid pro quo - If I say anything that is in any way less then celebratory of phag marriage I am labelled a bigot. That includes simply saying that I like it the way it is and would prefer to keep it that way.

But they can say any nasty, offensive, disgusting thing about me & mine without so much as an arched brow from anyone. Not that I car particularly what they feeeeeel (but I do find it interesting in a hypocritical way).

So how does having a phag mayor impact me? The same way phaf “marriage” does: it cheapens and dishonors it and makes it into a charade. How can one take the office - and by extension the entire town - serious when its chief officer is a klown?

“With so many courts now ruling for homosexual marriage”

They could rule that a Federal judge has NO RIGHT overruling the Will of the People......as in an election, and declare null and void each and every ruling from an activist judge that has tramped on the 10th amendment. They are supposed to work for us, not the other way around.

http://www.kgw.com/news/Timeline-Mayor-Adams—126427298.html

Portland, Oregon has a sodomite mayor for four years, who ran for election the first time and told his 17 year old boyfriend to keep his mouth shut if any reporters asked him about their relationship, so just say they were good friends. The SOB was elected mayor, the media found out about the underage homosexual the judge was having anal sex with, and the people tried to raise enough signatures to have him thrown out of office. All the homosexual acitivists and liberals in Portland come to his defense and the recall attempt failed. He also refused to step down. Each year he would march in the Sodomite “Pride” parade through the streets of Portland, Oregon.

>> We have anarchy now

If we had anarchy, we wouldn’t have this particular problem.
