A chilling message from the cartels: Billboards with hanging mannequins warning cops to choose 'silver over lead' appear in Texas

Two frightening incidents of vandalism in El Paso near the Mexican border in Texas have been interpreted as warnings from drug cartels. In both instances, a mannequin wearing a suit and tie was tied to a billboard with a noose and messages were scrawled over the placards. Local station KHOU reports that one of the signs reads 'Plata o Plombo' which translates to 'silver or lead', a threat used commonly against police officers effectively warning that if they do not accept the cartel's bribes then they will be shot.

We live in Texas and I guess if I get into an argument with a Hispanic person and it gets bad..well, if I win guess I will just pick up my brass and walk away as fast as I can. The more tats they have the sooner I suspect I will shoot. No need for the law to get involved because some of them just might take that sign to heart and drop my name and address to the wrong people. Guess it is a version of shoot, shovel, and shut up.
The Feds will sure as hell say I violated his rights.

Take care all, times are getting INTERESTING.

Are we sure that it was Pancho Villa and Santa Ana, or a couple of college kids pranking . . .

Yes, we're sure.

'This symbol has historically been used by Mexican drug cartels to threaten or intimidate Mexican citizens, business owners and government officials; however, we have never experienced this in El Paso,' local police said in a press release about the vandalism.

I did dig that out after I posted. I'm honestly surprised that it doesn't have to go through a board. But yes, this is one of the few things that a Texas Governor can do (without permission from someone).

I doubt that he will over a billboard, though.

El Paso - the city that some dingbat congressman from Florida, a few days ago claimed that due to its high government employment was one of the safest cities on the border, and thus proof that “communism works”.

I try not to even go through El Paso. I take the northern route when possible.

You have got to be kidding me! This is a declaration of war against us!

The White House announced that Obama just found out about this and he's angrier than you are. He won't rest until he gets to the bottom of this, once he finishes the back nine.

The cartels are running wild all over this country. We are looking more and more like Mexico every single day.

Pretty soon it will "Silver or lead" for all of us. Many of our politicians and judges are already there.

Oh but we are so better off being forced at the point of a gun to take only govt approved medicines!

Why if any one could buy anything they wanted at the drug store like we used to, where would the criminals threatening police to take bribes or die get their money and power?

Prohibition works. For a police state and criminal cartels.

I hope he doesn’t see it as just a billboard. Local law enforcement is taking it very seriously. We need to apply enough pressure that Perry does also.

If that doesn’t work, time to head down there en masse.

. . . or a couple of college kids pranking . . . .

The way that Mexican drug gangs can come into the United States and drag any kid they want to back south, snip his fingers off joint by joint, castrate, then rape him before killing him--and you think college kids are going to kid about the drug gangs?

All the politicians are going to see it as a billboard until significant blood gets spilled.

As you say, it will be up to ordinary Texans to confront this. The politicians will be late to the party.

One of the sad things is that the border crossings along the Rio Grande are just
one of the entry methods. Don’t forget the Gulf and air corridors so Texas is the
major point of entry, thus the threats.

I don't know who's side to be on, honestly....

corrupt mafia govt passing out favors and tax money to friends...

protecting heroin routes in the Middle east at the loss of hundreds of our soldiers and injuries to thousands...

and for what?....so we're helping one cartel over another....

I don't use drugs and neither does my "circle" of acquaintances....

should I care if they kill each other off?.....

its a new world, and new America....

we had peace and prosperity in this country up until lately and now there is not one reason to be hopeful, except for God...
