At a recent rally, a large group of black pastors voiced their strong opposition to gay marriage.
The rally was held against the backdrop of the current battle being fought in Michigan, where a state ban on gay marriage was overturned by Federal District Judge Bernard Friedman in March.

Thank you for your reasoned response. The urban black culture (gangsta and rap) is destroying the black community. One of the smartest and most respected person I know is Dr. Thomas Sowell. He is black. I would vote for him for president in a heartbeat. I don’t have the answer because we are limited to words on a computer. We’re not talking face to face and therefore it is hard to get the feel of each others facial and body expressions. I don’t hate gays but I hate some of their actions. Do I support their right to their lifestyle in the privacy of their home? Yes. But the aggressive gay agenda being pushed goes against all reason. It’s not equal rights, it’s special rights. That I’m against.
Every time I post something like this, I cringe, waiting for the blow-back. But every time, this is the response that I’ve gotten. Silence.
We are blowing opportunities every time we shut out dissenting opinions. Every time someone asks a question that doesn’t conform. Every time a young, brain-washed person (as I was) steps into the FR arena and they’re trashed instead of educated. Every time a person says, “I agree with you and *I* was damaged beyond repair! Let me fight with you to stop other children from being hurt!” Every time a black person sees the scorn heaped on the intercity culture and wants to fight democratic oppression and they read the dehumanizing posts about intercity blacks, it confirms the belief that conservatives are racist and leaves them abandoned.
I want my teachers back.
I agree with you! So when you see a new baby FReeper who doesn’t get it, take the time to educate them with compassion instead of banning them and hitting them with uneducated, snide remarks. (I’m not talking about what *you* do, but what I’ve been seeing on FR for the last few years.)
Approach these people with the heart of a teacher and we’ll gain more numbers. As it is, even those who want to learn are beaten off with a stick.
They left for the same reasons you will leave.
I’ve noticed that some here would rather attack blacks than defend marriage. I just assumed they were scared of the gay mafia coming after them and would rather bend over than stand with other Christians.
But then, maybe some of them are really just DU dems pretending to be conservative, or GOPe wanna be gays.
I’ve heard many Log Cabin republicans speak; all have supported so-called “gay marriage”. Don’t tell me they don’t support the gay agenda.
