The week prior to the holiday weekend has been rife with food recalls, virus outbreaks and warnings against possible food-borne illnesses. It also precedes one of the countrys biggest barbecue weekends: Memorial Day.
Sprouts, walnuts, hummus and ground beef have all been recalled this week either due to possible contamination from E. coli or Lysteria. E. coli is an intestinal bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal illnesses in humans.
Symptoms can include abdominal pain and diarrhea. Lysteria is a type of food poisoning that most affects pregnant women and children. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches and nausea but can become more severe if the infection spreads to the nervous system.

I got nothin against middle eastern food.
I am just not a fan of hummus.
Mmmm I love chick peas sauted with a little pepper, tamari, and even a little garlic in olive oil of course!
We enjoy hummus once in a while too. I prefer it be made with some ‘zest’.
Mashed chickpea and olive oil aint my thing.
It makes a turd.
Our daughter went to college at Menlo, and she found out about “Fred’s” steak which is near by the college. She has given it to use a few times. It’s so good, it actually melts in your mouth! Sure wish we could get some now! Oh yum!
That’s what I’m cooking tomorrow. A pork loin smoked on the barbie.
grilled vegetable medley, corn on the cob.
Isn’t it great!? My son is 23 and a HUGE fan. The problem is he brings 6 or 7 buddies over and we treat them all to Fred’s Steak — that sure puts a dent in the budget! But the kids love coming over for our BBQ and it’s always great fun having them here.
We always buy more than we think we’ll need, but it’s rare to have leftovers!

Oh boy, just finished a homemade hamburger from my grill. I guess I'm going to have to do web search to see what hummus is as I have never heard of it before reading this thread.
Lol.
