Petro Poroshenko wins Ukraine's presidency in the first round, according to the results of two national exit polls, with approximately 56 percent of the vote.
Ukrainians elected Petro Poroshenko to be their fifth president in a vote that was dubbed "the second independence referendum."
Poroshenko won his presidency in the first round, according to two exit polls.
The poll conducted by four TV channels showed that he received 57.8 percent of the vote. The national exit poll, conducted by a consortium of reputable survey takers, put Poroshenko at slightly less -- 55.9 percent of the votes, but still a clear majority.
His main rival, former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, received 12.8 of the vote in the TV poll and 12.9 percent in the national poll.
Everyone else finished in single digits in both exit polls.
A second round of voting would have been required on June 15 if no candidate among the 21 on the ballot had secured the majority of votes.

Now the really dangerous period begins....
I’ve been trying to follow this. Isn’t this a good result that will take away all legitimacy from the coup government? (correct me whenever I’m wrong, please)
This is just Exit Polling.
The results have yet to be counted, in a country already well-known for its epic levels of corruption, even in elections.
If the “actual” results come in even close to what is predicted here, will Svoboda/Right Sector, and their supporting Oligarchs, be willing to give up the power they now have?
If they don’t come in as predicted, what happens next?
This guy is a Jew Nazi, right?
BUT: What will Rootin’ Tootin’ Vladimir Putin do NOW?
Putin is kaputin. He just don’t know it yet.
Ultra-right radical nationalists appeared to have completely failed in the elections, with Svoboda (Freedom) Party head Oleg Tyagnibok securing 1.3 percent of votes and Right Sector leader Dmitry Yarosh less than one percent.
Hey, anyone who makes a living making candy can’t be all bad.
And to think our Russian comrades told us the Nazis will control everything.
It’s Sunday night at the Kremlin. They’ll get their talking points on Monday, and when the final results are in.
Their results are pretty much as expected, they have always been nothing more than fringe movements, everyone knew that, except Russian propagandists.
Candy is dandy but Putin is quicker.
RightSector/Svoboda and their Oligarch supporters, like Kolomoisky, have pretty much been running the show in Ukraine since the coup, while their arrogance and intransigence have been a huge contributing factor to what has happened since.
Things haven’t gotten better under them, it has gotten far worse.
Again, I’ll ask the question that none seems to want to answer:
Will these people go peacefully, if Poroshenko is confirmed the winner, without more bloodshed??
Let’s see what Poroshenko does about their Nazi problem. I’m hoping he exterminates them like the cockroaches they are.
The answers I'm getting are expressing doubt that the coup gov will leave without some urging.
“they have always been nothing more than fringe movements”
Except that they are “fringe movements” that are currently holding the reigns of government, as well as doing most of the killing on the Ukrainian side in the Civil War.
If Poroshenko asks, will they withdraw the armed militias??
Ok, I’ll answer. Yes, they’ll go. Neo-nazi or not (I lean toward not) they are Ukrainian patriots, and I seriously doubt they’ll ruin the country in a vain attempt to keep power. Naturally, IMO.

“Im hoping he exterminates them like the cockroaches they are.”
Well, you know that isn’t going to happen. That would cause a three-way civil war, Eastern vs. Western vs. Central.
Right now, they are holding political sway FAR beyond their numbers, mostly due to the backing of the Obama Administration and several Billionaire oligarchs. They have armed Warlord Militias roaming the countryside. The question is how Poroshenko can change that.
Ukraine implementing the Geneva Accords would be a good start.
“I seriously doubt theyll ruin the country in a vain attempt to keep power.”
then you are FAR more optimistic than I am. I just don’t see it, given all that has happened. Especially Kolomoisky.
“Except that they are fringe movements that are currently holding the reigns of government, as well as doing most of the killing on the Ukrainian side in the Civil War.”
Repeating the same nonsense over and over, doesn’t make it true.
I would also add that Yanukovich's Party of Regions candidate Dobkin has failed too. He'll be around 3% or less.
Never mind the Russian militias . . . .
All those people proclaiming that “nazis” we’re running Ukraine will have to find a different tac now
What about the pro Kremlin putshists in Donetsk and Luhansk. Will they end their coup d'etat?
How come you aren't asking that question?
Unless some kind of miracle happens, I think the Southeast is too far gone to recover. And that was predicted to happen the day the Maidan fell, before anything ever happened in Crimea. Anyone paying attention could see that writing on the wall.
The definition of “Southeast” may change, with province borders redrawn, but the actions of the coup leadership have since sealed that fate.
Poroshenko has, I believe, just ONE chance to make this right.
“Repeating the same nonsense over and over, doesnt make it true.”
That’s really good, considering you are person who repeatedly tries to deny events, hoping that will somehow make it true....
They already had a vote and declared themselves independent of Ukraine. Let's see if Poroshenko can bring them back into the fold. That should be interesting.
They had a vote about as valid as an online poll
“Proshenkos victory ruins all the neo-nazi junta in Kiev narration of the Kremlin”
Regardless of what happens, the rebels can claim the election is illegitimate, because the result didn’t include the Southeast.
As I said, Poroshenko has but ONE chance to make this right. He HAS to crack down on the Oligarch’s and Warlord Militia’s, which is going to upset lots of people, likely including the Obama Administration.
Fail, and the Southeast is gone, and Russia has cause to intervene to protect them. Try thinking this through.
Poroshenko said his first trip as president will be to Donbas. He’s offering amnesty for anyone who lays down arms.
Considering how the “leaders” in the east are treating the people, they better accept that offer. The locals are just about ready to kill themselves some separatists.
In the mean time, while all of this is going on, EuroMaidanPr is reporting battles going, on right now, in Svatovo, and near Slovyansk.
I asked the same Putin groupie/ propaganda poster to explain what his hero KGB Putie was doing in East Germany with the Stasi in the 1980’s .
He ran off .
Its a tough day for the KGB collabators like him.
Yes... That's why they were ordered to disorganize elections over there...
You and your boyfriend Putie are having a bad day !
Trying to destroy freedom and rebuilding that Iron Curtain is tough work for freedom haters like you and KGB pals!
“Poroshenko said his first trip as president will be to Donbas. Hes offering amnesty for anyone who lays down arms.”
Poroshenko has some stones. That was never the question.
I’d be a lot more worried about what the likes of Kolomoisky might due. His history shows him to be a real bastard, and I doubt he goes way without considerable “Considerations”.
“Yes... That’s why they were ordered to disorganize elections over there...”
But, for the same reason, the Right-Sector tried to disrupt the Donetsk Referendum. Only the rebels didn’t have to shoot down protesting unarmed civilians to do it.
“what his hero KGB Putie was doing in East Germany with the Stasi in the 1980s”
I told you... You just didn’t like the true answer. Choosing to disbelieve rarely changes the facts, though.
“How come you aren’t asking that question?”
I have answered that question, in several posts. English not your first language??
“And to think our Russian comrades told us the Nazis will control everything.”
Seriously, does lying help you deal with always being wrong, in some sick way?? I’ve been saying for a week Poroshenko was likely to win this thing.
The questions is, what happens NOW...
I know you are quite saddened that the Not-A-Nazi Nazi’s were rejected by the VAST majority of people who voted, but really....
Ritalin can be your friend. Ask your doctor about it.
I know your sad .
You were looking forward your Putie Rebuilding the watch towers and barb wire fencing across the Ukraine and your KGB pals torturing uncooperative Ukrainians not taking well to there new found enslavement to Mother Russia !
Now tell me again what was your boy Putie was doing with the Stasi in Dresden East German in the 1980s ?..
KGB Charity work ?..
You Maidan trolls must be really bruised today. Have you declared a period of mourning, yet? Your goose-stepping Not-a-Nazi Nazi hero’s were SOUNDLY defeated.
Fact is, things are about to change, HARD. Where that change goes is anybody’s guess, but that change is coming.
While you are thinking up more Jr. High-type insults, events are fast leaving you behind. But then, that has been the case all along, hasn’t it?
Oh, stuff it. You’ve been yowling for weeks that people who do not accept your “nuanced” way of looking at things are nazi-symps, or worse. Witness your comment some moments past.
Camy anyone tell me about Preshenko?
And of course I didn't ask you about other posts. The language problems seems to be yours comrade.
