On bilingualism in Texas public schools, Texas Governor Miriam Amanda “Ma” Ferguson:
“If the King’s English was good enough for Jesus Christ, it’s good enough for the children of Texas!”
So there it is. He spoke Texan.
The pope is a fool. He thought he was correcting Netanyahu, and it was a natural reflex.
No, the pope was wrong. The pope thought he was correcting Netanyahu. The pope did not say that Jesus also spoke Aramaic. The pope appeared to be unaware that Jesus spoke Hebrew.
YHvH's WORD is written in Hebrew.shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
And?
It might be relevant that the only place in the middle east where modern Aramaic speakers live in peace and relative safety is in Israel.
Yes, there are pockets of Aramaic speakers in northern Iraq, northern Syria, and eastern Turkey . . . . but no thanks. You’re right about Israel. It’s the one sliver of sanity in a crazy region.
Netanyahu needed correcting, because he chose to politicize language. He wants to promote Hebrew, which is both his right and his job — but he picked the wrong occasion and fudged history.
When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
Aramaic-related ping.
Here’s Luke’s version. Jesus is not addressing generic “false religious leaders”. The parable is not applicable to Muslims or Hindus.
But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them? He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others.
God certainly did give the vineyard to others, when the Jews were driven out of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 and again in A.D. 135. It’s a matter of history. But the regathering of Israel is now appearing before our very eyes. Sooner or later, God’s everlasting covenant will be carried out to the letter and Christ will reign on earth.
God’s covenant with the Israelite people is fulfilled in Jesus. There’s no other savior upon whom they can call.
Esau was reconciled to Jacob, but only by way of accepting the gifts Jacob offered.
Did the army of Titus deliver to the Lord the vineyard’s fruits in their seasons? Is that what you believe?
If you want to spiritualize the Bible’s prophecies about the land of Israel and say they were fulfilled in Jesus, you are certainly not the first to do so. I will take them at face value. You’re right that there is no other savior. Did you read Romans 11? Israel will acknowledge Messiah Yeshua.
Think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
