re: idiot brother in law
Did he blame those dastardly Republicans & their sequester, etc. , etc. ??
Libs ALWAYS have to blame somebody else; it couldn’t be their own stoopidity
Yup. We saw about the same thing. Didn't really see the point, and made me wish for Catastrophic Coverage again.
Mrs WBill and the kids were self-insured up until this year....I didn't like putting all of my eggs in one basket, in case I got laid off. Then Obamacare came along and the ins company did away with their insurance plan. It was re-instated after BO's temper tantrum, but too late, and at a ridiculously inflated cost.
Now, they're on my plan at work. We're OK for this year. I've no idea what will happen next year, but I'm sure that it will not be good. Or cheap.
I don't blame the ins companies. They need to stay in business. I blame BO - insurance wasn't cheap prior to BOcare, but it was affordable. Now it's neither affordable, nor what I need, and docs who take various plans are harder and harder to find.
Surely, this is the fastest way to destroy what was the best healthcare system in the world, and anyone who thinks differently is a fool.
Bet he blamed the insurance companies
The thing that gets me is that I am in an area of the country where it is difficult to find a doc that will take cash. I can understand not wanting to take Obamacare, but why refuse cash?
Not educated.
I certainly believe that and was saying so before it was even voted into law. I'm not as forgiving of the ins companies though. They mostly promoted 0bamaCare before it was law.
Even if I could afford ins I will not comply with a government-ordered mandate to buy it or to buy anything else. Whatever the consequences I will not comply.
First off, I must commend you on your excellent math skills. :)
$22,000. Not many Americans have that kind of money hanging around. The result of this is that if one has a major illness, it will wipe that person/family out. Food prices are soaring! Gasoline is being held artificially high by this administration. I think it is safe to say that bankruptcies will be up. Obama may end up with his income equality after all with everyone being poor.
The ultimate irony about the un-afordable care act. They sold it to the low information voter based on telling them that such a large percentage of bankruptcies are caused by huge medical bills. And it doesn't solve that AT ALL. How many families could take a $22K hit before their coverage kicked in? It's basically like not being covered period.
GMTA. You beat me by 3 minutes!

Samaritan Ministries - a Biblical, non-insurance approach to health care needs.
This is a free market type solution. Notice the cost difference between self-insured and government regulated.
If I understand it properly, $370/mo for a family. Wont start paying out until you pay over $300.00 then it will cover you.
Compare this to any regulated insurance. My company’s plan is $1400/mo, with a deductible of $2500.
I ran our numbers through CoveredCa. Our total of premiums and deductible for just hubby and me.........almost $30,000. Now that’s affordable!!!!!!!!
LOL Adding two numbers with a calculator is about the apex of my skilz!
U done Goud. :)
They did solve one problem, people won’t be bankrupted by big medical bills. They’ll be bankrupted by big insurance bills.
That is just unbelievable to me. Those who could comfortably afford that could likely afford medical care out of pocket. That’s why catastrophic coverage was popular for so many years. Insure for the big things, pay for the little things.
THe midwife option works under many if not most circumstances. If there’s a problem in delivery, they’d need a NICU and possibly more. Big gamble.
And I thought what we already pay was bad. We havebeenonwhere paying over $1k a month for a couple of years now.
For two people!?! Amazing!
If da badderies die I’m oudda bidness. ;^)
