In this particular case I would have reminded her that my white privileged relatives died in the War Between the States so that her Black A## could find a job other than picking cotton.

I had several run ins like when I got out of the Army in 1968 and went to College. I also heard the same argument in my FReepin’ career in Boston and DC, don't work for me.

Worse than that, it’s the paranoid race-war ideology passed around by black nationalists for generations, and sworn to be “the truth” as they call it. They presume that whiteness in general is a plot against black people, and all whites are in on it. A true believer like this college professor has that ideology first and foremost in her mind, every time she walks into class and looks at her students.
