A while back I saw a documentary on one of the PBS channels hosted by David Suzuki. His theory, which he strongly implied but didn't outright state (for obvious reasons), was that homosexuals are "made" in the womb. According to him, children get their sex determined at conception, but their orientation and their relative masculinity/femininity are determined during gestation. There are specific times during pregnancy when the correct amount of the correct hormones are supposed to bathe the fetus so that it turns out as expected, i.e. a straight masculine male or straight feminine female.
If the mother's body is stressed through anxiety, drugs, smoking, drinking, etc. then a hormonal imbalance can occur at these important times leading to homosexual effeminate males, homosexual masculine males, homosexual effeminate females, or homosexual masculine females. He mentioned a study that there seemed to be a spike of homosexuals born to women who gave birth during WWII. Seemingly these mothers were stressed out about their husbands being in harms way and potentially getting killed.
This would explain the rise of the LGBT movement in the 70's if there was a spike in homosexuals born in the 40's.
The LGBT lobby seems to suppress any discussion of this possibility. If hormonal disturbances during gestation are the real cause for homosexuality, then the cure is relatively easy, i.e. treatments to make sure that the hormonal balance is correct throughout pregnancy.

Until all of this is subject to serious scientific analysis and study, there will be no progress on WHY people have various types of sexual tendencies or orientations.
As such, there will be no serious study or any pursuit of a cure for pedophilia.
The ONLY study proximate to this will be studies on autism, which is so broad a diagnostic conclusion that you can’t really use it.
In the end, a human being’s sexual response is no different than their responses to other types of external stimuli.
Synesthesia is a condition where one smells or tastes something in response to looking at certain colors. Seeing the color orange may produce the sensation of smelling coffee, or sawdust, or roses.
Synesthesia isn’t killing anybody, but if you had the money and the interest in delving to the bottom of that particular condition, it may bear fruit on every other external stimuli-inappropriate involuntary response type condition.
Not that this will ever happen. No serious study of homosexuality or pedophilia, unless it is calculated specifically for the promotion of societal normalization of either, will be permitted. The preliminary research that had been allowed in the past indicates relationships between psychology and either homosexuality or pedophilia. That’s too broad and unscientific to be useful, but its enough to know that if you are for the politicization of either condition, you don’t want any more research in the area to be conducted.
