Porn performers in California must wear condoms during film shoots and their employers must provide regular testing under a bill that passed the state Assembly on Tuesday. The bill, AB1576 by Assemblyman Isadore Hall, D-Compton, advanced to the Senate on a 41-12 vote, the minimum number of votes needed. The bill follows a similar mandate in Los Angeles County, approved by voters in 2012. Hall said his bill is a workplace-safety measure to curb the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, citing recent industry-imposed moratoriums on adult film shoots after actors were diagnosed.

Relocation to Las Vegas is fairly easy. I’m sure Harry Reid will welcome such new constituents.

The fools don’t realize that digital cameras have become ubiquitous, there is zero reason for any porn production to remain in California. Importantly, the businesses themselves can remain in California, intertwined as they are with the regular film industry. Just the photography needs to be elsewhere.

Then there's gay prostitutes, gay pervs, gay men and women in general.

I almost think they should be tatooed...kinda like the "A" thing.

'This is largely unenforceable, even though I know there's a line of people wanting to inspect sets,' he said.

More laws to drive jobs out of California. The democRats have never seen a problem that can't be solved by more laws or more spending.

With all the free stuff on the internet ,commercial porn is a contracting industry. Still leave it to government interference to destroy ant commercial enterprise. The irony is that if these regulations were proposed by Republicans, liberal Democrat judges would void them as an assault on “free speech” and censorship.

I don't think so. Sex for money is prostitution and illegal in every state except California and New Hampshire. Sex for money while making a film is specifically exempted in those two states.

New Hampshire? LOL! Damned if I know what they were thinking.

It’s legal in New Hampshire? Are you sure you didn’t mean Nevada?

Actually, the vast majority of the porn industry has already moved to Eastern Europe, production and labor costs are much cheaper, and virtually no regulation exists.

How is the difference between a porn “star” and a porn non-star determined. It’s important if only porn “stars” have to wear a condom.
