The media will be barred from the tiny Mexican federal courtroom where a U.S. Marine jailed for two months after accidentally crossing the border with three registered guns will appear before a judge for the first time today.
Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi has been held in two Mexican prisons since his arrest, one of which he tried to escape after receiving threats, according to his supporters. He'll go before a federal judge in Mexico's sixth-largest city at 9 a.m. local time. According to his Tijuana-based attorney, Alejandro Osuna, Tahmooressi will be afforded the chance to tell his story to the judge. The Mexican customs agent and soldiers involved in his arrest will also make statements.
