First Lady Michelle Obama threatened Republicans in Congress who want to allow local school districts to opt out of federal regulations on school lunches that she created.

"This is unacceptable," she said during a roundtable discussion of the issue. “It's unacceptable to me not just as First Lady but also as a mother."

Apparently it's perfectly acceptable to Michelle "as a mother" that her own daughters are eating meatball subs and ice cream at for lunch their elite private school Sidwell Friends, as we reported yesterday.

Totally agree. The leftists/statists are free to amend the US Constitution if they don’t like what it says. That’s the contract We the People established with the federal government, and amendment via judges is not the rule of law. It’s actually the exact opposite.

BTW, nothing stops individual states from enacting single-payer health care, Michelle’s healthy lunches, bans on traditional energy like coal, homosexual marriage, or whatever else the majorities in those states want. What they do not have the authority to do is to use the federal government against their neighbor states by imposing their leftist agendas on us all.

This woman really does think she is queen. I’d been happy to eat one of those lunches if I were then allowed to throw it up all over her designer shoes.

What a total BEYOTCH!

The Moose is way too bossy.

The Moose needs to look in the rear view mirror and see her own caboose. She then might STFU!

Good analogy although I’m not sure Imelda dabbled in food mandates. Totalitarians are running amok in the republic.

Is the food they are being FORCED to eat safe?

(secret lists? targets for totalitarians? children as guinea pigs?…no, the government would never do that…scrap that thought)

I don't care much for meatball subs. Ice cream, otoh, is the best dessert on earth. (I also have a soft spot for well done lemon meringue pie.)

"BTW, nothing stops individual states from enacting single-payer health care, ..."

I agree. Massachussetts' RomneyCare is a related example.

Also, given the remote possibility that you have not seen the excerpt below concerning federal government constitutional authority to address public healthcare issues, actually the lack thereof, you might find it interesting.

Regardless what misguided activist justices want everybody to think about the constitutionality of Obamacare Democratcare, the Supreme Court had historically clarified it this way. Using health laws in the context of intrastate commerce as an example nonetheless, the Court had explained that the states have never delegated to the feds, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate intrastate healthcare policy.

”State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added].” —Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

The one thing I admire about Jimmy Carter is that he truly put his money where his mouth was by enrolling his daughter Amy in DC public schools. No president (and probably very few Members of Congress) has Ben as honest and unhypocritical since.
