Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) came away from meeting with Israeli leaders struck by their unanimous opposition across political lines to the U.S. negotiations with Iran.
I met with roughly a dozen senior officials in Israel across political parties and across political views, and every single leader with whom I met, number one viewed the prospect of Iran gaining nuclear weapons capability as the gravest national security threat facing Israel and facing the United States, Cruz said in a conference call with reporters Wednesday.
Number two, every single leader across the political spectrum viewed the current deal being negotiated in Geneva, as in the words of Prime Minister Netanyahu, a very, very bad deal and a historic mistake, Cruz added.
While in Israel Tuesday, Cruz met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, Defense Minister Moshe Bogi Yaalon, opposition leader Bogie Herzog, Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz and Israeli Gen. Yossi Kuperwasser.
It was the first leg of Cruzs international trip. The rest was in Eastern Europe where he met with government and religious leaders in Ukraine Wednesday, including recent President-elect Petro Poroshenko. He was set to fly to Poland Wednesday night before going to Estonia on Thursday. The swing through international hot spots could bolster the conservative freshman senators expected 2016 presidential campaign.

And Realism is used as an opposition to Idealism. The Liberal Interventionists and NeoCons are Idealists. The idealists advocate for a foreign policy that includes humanitarianism, nation building, and spreading democracy but the Realists say only what is in the US interests. So the Idealists say we should go after Assad in Syria for idealistic reasons but the Realists say only if that is in our best interest. And sometimes the Realists advocate for making a deal with an evil, despotic national leader like Pinochet, in which case it is said that the Realists are Machiavellian.
In the GOP there are Realists, NeoCons, and Isolationists. In the dem party there are Realists, Liberal Interventionists, and Antiwar Pacifists. The vast majority of Careerists(military, State dept, intelligence) are Realists.
A repubilican prez's foreign policy team will always be made up of Realists and NeoCons. A dem prez's foreign policy team will always be made up of Realists and Liberal Interventionists.
The clear intent of this provision [Logan Act] is to prohibit unauthorized persons from intervening in disputes between the United States and foreign governments. Nothing in section 953 [Logan Act], however, would appear to restrict members of the Congress from engaging in discussions with foreign officials in pursuance of their legislative duties under the Constitution.

I listened to Sarah last night. She’s not running. She did not say, “I am not running”. Everything, and I mean everything, in her tone and body language rejected the notion.
Can't say I blame her. Then again, she doesn't make decisions on her own. She's guided by faith and family, so I trust whatever direction she takes.
I don’t blame her either. They have terrorized her family.
Conservatism only works by having a consistent ideology and sticking to it. Too many conservatives are adopting left wing thought patterns. Conservatives are supposed to be for the Constitution and the rule of law. Are you saying that conservatives were unfairly attacking Obama back then, or Cruz is doing something he shouldn't know?
Let’s wait, and see.
2016 is still a long way, from now.
I’ve no problem with wait and see. At the same time, in my mind it’s 99.9% that she isn’t running.
I am of the opposite opinion.
She was going to run in 2012. Then at the last minute, changed her mind.
I believe four years later, that may very well have resolved itself.
We shall see. :D
Obama was negotiating with the Iraq government concerning the terms of withdrawal. And he was negotiating a policy that was counter to the legitimate Bush administration.
That would seem to be a violation of the Logan Act.
Cruz is having conversations with foreign governments regarding their situation, apprehensions and aspirations. There is no evidence that he is negotiating anything or acting counter to any established American foreign policy.
I.e., there is no violation of the Logan Act.
Which is to say that criticism of Obama in 2008 and approval of Cruz in 2014 is neither being inconsistent or hypocritical.
If you’re right I’ll buy you a cup of coffee. :>)

With respect to Iran, I believe we are repeating the same mistakes of the Clinton administration in 1990s with respect to North Korea, Cruz said. In the 1990s, we relaxed our sanctions against North Korea response to vague and worthless promises just like those in Geneva now. As a consequence, billions of dollars flowed to North Korea and North Korea used those funds to develop nuclear weapons.

Of course. Demonic-rat administrations never comprehend Communists or Moslems because they’re too closely aligned: anti-freedom, anti-American.
