These ratings are less than useful and reliable.

Often they will help bring liberal bills to the floor and then vote against, knowing it will pass because they voted for cloture.

And the ACU counts the vote against.

Stupid.

Where these published as a group in some location

That’s true but they’re all we’ve got to actually compare senators to each other...their actual votes.

And furthermore, if politicians are going to use these types of ratings to recommend their reelection, then they need to be refuted.

I am not sure the GOP got to bring many bills to the Senate floor

do you have some examples of bils authored by a GOPSenator
that got to the floor?
and were then voted down by the very GOP authors/

I read a few years back that we should opt to keep anybody over 80%. This is probably good, but if they have been there for a long time, I still feel that we need to allow new blood, so if they are challenged by a real conservative, we should pull the Term Limits thing on them. I know not everybody agrees, but let’s be honest. We have career politicians. They have done a lot of damage, and it seems that even many of the good ones begin to play the DC game after a while. Just look at the voting records of ANY of the long-term republicans and you can see that over time, their ratings took a dive. Lobbyists begin to have an affect on them. Greed begets greed. I am all for the term limits we are urging int he Article V convention of the states. A lot could be changed by forcing the power-brokers out. Not only do they vote what the lobbyists want, they get VERY wealthy in the meantime. ENOUGH! I could care less about their wealth, except that it is on the backs of you and me. That is robbery. But the cocktail party pacts have to stop.

Did you really? That’s good work.

But.... How’s about giving each pol an aggregate average and then listing them by best to worst?

The debt ceiling for one.

Wasn’t it Sen. Olympia Snowe who voted to let ObamaCare go to the floor?

Thanks for the work Cotton.

However, these ratings do NOT include cloture votes on bad law.
That is a very bad flaw in these ratings.

Nor does it “weight” key votes such as amnesty, etc.

I don’t understand. They are given an average, and rated best to worst. Except that those up for reelection are moved to the top.

I know FreedomWorks has started to include cloture votes in its ratings, so they can’t get away with that little trick anymore.

Every single conservative rating system must include “cloture votes”.

It should also give more weight to bigger issue votes such as Obamacare,
amnesty, etc.
