John Boehner’s friends plot tea party crackdown

They’ve given John Boehner constant headaches during his three years as speaker.

Now, Boehner’s friends are trying to make sure that a small pocket of tea-party-aligned Republicans won’t have a chance to derail his speakership next year. And if they try, they could be punished.

A group of his closest allies — including fellow Ohio Republicans like Pat Tiberi — are discussing tactics such as trying to change GOP Conference rules to punish members who do not support the party’s nominee during a floor vote. A lawmaker who bucks the Republicans’ choice for speaker could lose committee assignments — or worse. Boehner’s allies have already stripped some Republicans of their committee assignments for straying too far from the team.

In a sign of force, some of Boehner’s friends are considering releasing a letter with the names of several dozen GOP lawmakers pledging to vote for no one else besides the speaker — making the election of a more conservative rival logistically impossible.

The effort is playing out amid ongoing speculation that Boehner may retire soon after the midterms, though the Ohio Republican insists he will stick around. And while his tenure has been defined by the tea party’s fury, the maneuvering to keep him in power is a reminder of the enduring strength of the GOP’s establishment wing.

Boehner’s critics are loud but disorganized and stand little chance of toppling him at the moment. But the talks represent a drastic shift in Boehner’s corner of the House Republican Conference and are, in part, a reaction to a laid-back attitude that is seen as both a strength and hobbling weakness for the speaker.

The Boehner-funded, Commander in Chief Obama’s latest Grand Bargain is assign the US Military to mercilessly attack the Settled Science of the Climate Change Weapon of Mass destruction.

This Grand Bargain Announcement by Commander in Chief Obama was greeted by the 2014 Graduation Class at West Point with a 25 % standing ovation.

IOW, a future 75 % reduction in force of the newly commissioned Army officers from West Point.

Over the years, Doormat Republican Speaker Boehner has been able to fund all of the Democrats’ Commander in Chief Obama’s Military decisions.

Speaker Boehner has thus been essential to helping Obama to lead from the bottom of a Socialist, Group Hug, Hell Hole.

Speaker Boehner should indeed be in line for a promotion by Arrogant Commander in Chief Obama.

Over the years, Boehner has doubled the taxpayer dollars sent to the failed Veterans Administration.

The rumor that a grateful, but still Arrogant, Obama is considering promoting Boehner to be in charge of the Veterans Administration has yet to be confirmed.

I’m not so sure the Pubs will win the Senate back in Nov. The disdain the GOPe has for the Tea Party supporters will have an effect on turn out.

Could be a ploy by the Politico to disrupt the Republican party going into the election.

That said I would not put it past this jerk to do it.

Maybe what happened this week in TX could be a “despite” all the odds against situation.

No wonder Guiterrez (D) is supporting Cantor, and Pelosi is sidling up to, and quashing resistance to Boehner. Birds of a feather, all of them.

Conservatives should be getting the message. We are being openly signaled now.

Conservatives are going to be driven out, sooner than later, and a socialist nominee for the Republican Party will be raised, once again and again, until it is assured that we have no influence inside, or outside, the Party apparatus.

So, what’s that tell us, that needs to be done?

More banging of our head on a brick wall? More voting for the “lesser of two evils”, which reverses nothing? More chatter of nervousness, fear and caving to despration?

To hell with THAT!

“Any ideas on what freepers could do to help these people?”

If they’re elected representatives and the retribution is within the House, then no, I don’t know what we can do, other than reelect those that buck the leadership and throw out those that go along or enact tyrannical rules.

And defeating Eric Cantor on June 10th would help, or short of that, severely weakening him.

The disdain the GOPe has for the Tea Party supporters will have an effect on turn out.

That disdain is mutual, and rapidly morphing into unmitigated disgust.

Screw him.
