Biographical Data
Scott A. Angelle, native of Breaux Bridge, one of nine children, raised in a small town, in a middle class family, learned at an early age the value of teamwork and how to fight for every inch for the right things. He is an honor graduate of St. Martin Parish Public School System, and a Cum Laude graduate of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette with a degree in Petroleum Land Management. His business career has included strategic planning, risk management, and petroleum land management. He was elected at age 25 to the St. Martin Parish Police Jury and served on that body for 12 years until a new parish form of government was approved by the voters in 1999, when he was elected the parish’s first Parish President. He was appointed by Governor Kathleen Blanco in 2004 as Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Chairman of the State’s Mineral Board and reappointed to those posts by Governor Bobby Jindal in 2008, making him the first DNR Secretary to serve governors of different parties. At DNR, he focused on improving levee board governance, coastal management and restoration, making Louisiana a more attractive province for oil and gas investment, environmental legacy lawsuit reform, and managing the state-owned mineral assets and water resources. He left the Department of Natural Resources in August 2012, to seek the office of Public Service Commission.

In 2010, he was appointed as the 52nd Lieutenant Governor by Governor Bobby Jindal followed by a unanimous confirmation by both chambers of the Louisiana Legislature. During his tenure as Interim Lieutenant Governor, he successfully negotiated a $45 million down payment by British Petroleum to the State of Louisiana for tourism marketing in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon event. In addition, he was the state’s point person to negotiate an end to the Gulf of Mexico drilling moratorium and provided the leadership to help streamline federal oil and gas permitting. He also serves as a member of the Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors and is chairman of the state’s Water Resources Commission. He remains active in religious, governmental and civic organizations. He and his wife, Dianne, are the proud parents of five (5) children and grandparents of twin granddaughters. He assumed the Commissionership of the Public Service Commission District 2, on January 1, 2013; current term ends December 31, 2018.

On Thursday in New Orleans, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin hailed conservative Louisiana Senate candidate and Retired Air Force Colonel Rob Maness as an outsider who will give Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) the help they need to fight the permanent political establishment in Washington, D.C.
At an event with the Tea Party Express, which endorsed Maness this week, Palin, who often backs underfunded candidates if she believes they will be the best person for the job in D.C., said Maness would be the “reinforcement” that conservatives in D.C. need.
In a Facebook post after the event, Palin said that Maness got her “choked up as he articulated so perfectly the need for new leadership to defend America’s exceptionalism.”
“He knows what’s going on in D.C. is unacceptable. It’s dangerous, it’s put us on the wrong path, and he’ll do all he can to stop this fundamental transformation of the nation he and his sons have spent decades protecting,” Palin said.
As Breitbart News noted, when she endorsed Maness, Palin described Maness’s distinguished record of service, which includes his rescue efforts on 9/11 at the Pentagon:

Palin: Obama Shows ‘Lack of Understanding’ of Debt of Gratitude to Military

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin joined Sean Hannity from the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, La. to speak out on the ongoing VA scandal.

“I think there’s a lack of understanding on our commander-in-chief’s part about what the mission of the military is, and why it is that we owe a debt of gratitude that’s manifested in benefits paid to those who’ve already earned them,” Palin said.
