House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is boasting in a new campaign mailer of shutting down a plan to give "amnesty" to "illegal aliens," a strongly worded statement from a Republican leader who's spoken favorably about acting on immigration.
The flier sent by his re-election campaign comes as Cantor is under pressure ahead of his June 10 GOP primary in Virginia and as the narrow window for action on immigration legislation in the House is closing fast. Cantor's flier underscores how vexing the issue is for the GOP.
Advocates on the left are accusing Cantor of standing in the way of getting overhaul legislation through the House 11 months after the Senate passed a sweeping bill. Cantor's tea party opponent, Dave Brat, claims that Cantor backs amnesty.
-snip-
Cantor's campaign spokesman, Ray Allen, said Cantor continues to support certain pieces of immigration legislation but that his opposition to the Senate bill is "important information for the voters."

Just lying now.
So they equivocate words like Clinton....what the meaning of “is” is and so forth. They don’t or don’t want use the word “Amnesty” but in their tiny little traitorous appeasing brains, they’re thinking “legalization, eventual path to citizenship (after all sorts of steps that will eventually be ruled unconstitutional by the SC). Can’t vote, pay taxes and fines, back of the line, all that.
Complete and utter horseshit. Cantor and his buddies will sell us down the river first chance they get.
“Cantor, in campaign flier, attacks ‘amnesty’ plan for ‘illegal aliens’”
That’s certainly odd. The way Eric was touting the so-called `DREAM’ act, you’d a thunk he and Dick Durbin were swapping spit in a House cloak room.

Two-faced, amoral, power-hungry politicians abound.
I was for amnesty before I was against it
Slimy SOB
Here in Texas we just voted out a bunch of these DIABLOs (Democrat In All But Label Only). In particular “Trans Texas Corridor boondoggle” Dewhurst.
Yup!
The incredible stupidity of those Republicans who seek to appease shortsighted business interests, rather than seek to educate them as to their true interest, continues to disgust me.
If Cantor is so befuddled that he actually believes that we need more immigrants from backgrounds that do not accept the basic social, economic & political philosophy of the Founding Fathers, he is certainly a strange fellow to be representing Washington, Jefferson & Madison's home State.
For how those short-sighted business types, on whom Cantor has sometimes fawned, have been played by those who mean us ill, see Another Variation On A Demonic Theme.

This guy is among the top lying and devious scumbags of all time. I really hope the voters can see it.
I live in the 7th district. Cantor was for amnesty before he was against it or vice versa - we just can’t keep track of his position on this. But in addition, he’s arrogant and out of touch with his constituents. He holds fake town hall meetings and in my view has real disdain for conservatives. Somehow he’s become a multi millionaire during his time in congress. He’s voted to increase the debts ceiling many times and also voted to increase spending. I could go on and on about this guy. He helped Boehner remove conservatives from key committee assignments and has tried to remove conservatives from Republican Party positions around the state.
There’s only one conservative in this race and it is not Eric Cantor. I’m voting for Dave Brat in the June 10th primary.
I have often seen Cantor interviewed on CNBC, and have come to the conclusion that he is a toady for business interests. Please do not take this in the wrong way. I watch CNBC, because I am up to my eye-balls in the market. I am certainly not anti-business. But let us face it, many high up in Corporate management, in America today, suffer from a severe form of tunnel vision, and are virtually unable to see beyond what they perceive as their interest over the next few quarters.
No one is more supportive of Capitalist values than I; but stupidity is stupidity, not a prescription for the sort of progress any well intentioned person should desire. In the long-run, a "Liberal" immigration policy will sound the death knell for American business interests.
