Long Beach City, Miss. Thad Cochran emerged from his campaign bus on Thursday under a gray sky and pouring rain. His entourage neatly symbolized how the lines are drawn in the primary battle from which he is hoping to emerge victorious on Tuesday.
Trailing behind the senator at the grip-and-grin session at Long Beach City Hall were figures of Mississippis Republican political establishment: the states lieutenant governor, Tate Reeves; and Stuart Stevens, a senior adviser to Mitt Romneys presidential campaign, a Mississippi native, and a media guru who has returned home to guide Cochrans strategy in the closing days of his campaign. The states political upper crust, former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour chief among them, have teamed up to try to pull Cochran over the finish line.
In 15 minutes, Cochran, clad in a yellow rain jacket, made his rounds among the 20 or so people gathered to see him. The room was mostly empty and the energy was low, but those gathered looked on admiringly and paid their respects. The senator has largely avoided the media, even fleeing from CNN cameras earlier this week, and has refused to debate his challenger, State Senator Chris McDaniel.
Though heavy on tradition, the state, once a Democratic stronghold, is not immune to change. I think this race is very much still in jeopardy as to who can win and who can lose, Henry Barbour, the head of a pro-Cochran super PAC and nephew of Haley Barbour, told a local television station on Thursday. I think Senator Cochran has an advantage, but if people dont turn out, Senator Cochran could very well lose. Tuesday will reveal whether the Tea Party, which has upended the GOP in Washington, has gained enough traction to seize victory in Mississippi.

He made sure those folks got a lot of gov’t money after the hurricane...
Precisely.
I saw that article 2ndDV. That should be Chris McDaniel’s Election Eve bomb shell. If Chris would have said that, it would be all over the airways by now.
Haley Barbour’s brother, Jeppie Barbour, is supporting Chris McDaniel. His two sons are running Thad Coackroach’s campaign. A slap in the face to his bro. and two sons.... but, stupid people need to be slapped.
And if McDaniel wins the primary, he wins. Cochran wont be able to back the Dem like Lugar did.

Great news, but why can he not back the Dem like Lugar did?
Are they? Do conservatives move out of the state? Cochran did. Do conservatives leave their wife behind in a nursing home? Cochran did. Do conservatives move in with their Executive Assistants? Cochran did. Do conservatives carry her along at taxpayer expense allowing the State Department to include her in official spouse events? Cochran did. Do conservatives help out at Democrat fund raisers hosted by his Executive Assistant? Cochran did. Do conservatives tell reporters how important Obamacare is? Cochran did today.
Maybe in Mississippi everyone is a conservative, except Senator Cochran.
You need to draft up a “last minute flyer” for the Cochran camp to distribute tomorrow and Monday.
Out with the old...in with the new. When you are even partially senile, you should have retired long ago. This guy is pout of touch with reality.
I SO PRAY and I’m voting McDaniel and trying to help Chris as best as I’m currently able.
Local tv report. News Anchor said Cochran rarely does news events! This guy is running ads saying he’s for Mississippi? In all my years following politics I don’t recall seeing Cochran out in about advancing a Conservative principles in legislation.
No doubt he did it for a reason. Because Mississippi has an open primary, Cochran is trolling for Democrat votes.
No doubt. Open primaries are the last refuge of scoundrels. In his case, those Democrats are his real constituents.
Mississippi ping - a few
Hey guys; see Post #36.
[BTW, Din Maker, did you see these articles about one of five Dems vying to unseat Susana in November?
Dem to Hispanic Republican: 'We Need to Send Her Back to Wherever She Really Came From'
Three others at the New Mexico site:
I saw the one in the top link you Posted. He said, more or less, “She’s probably from Texas”; likening her to the Ultra-Conservatives and Tea Partiers in Texas after we kicked butt last Tuesday in the Primary Run-off Elections. IMO, he gave her a compliment.
