EPA to Seek A 30% Cut In Emissions [by 2030]
Wall Street Journal Online ^ | 01 June 2014 | Amy Harder

Posted on 06/01/2014 2:48:43 PM PDT by Lorianne

The Environmental Protection Agency will seek a 30% reduction in U.S. carbon-dioxide emissions by 2030 from existing power plants based on emission levels from 2005, according to two people briefed on the rule, setting in motion the main piece of President Barack Obama's climate-change agenda.

The draft rule, to be proposed Monday and scheduled to be completed one year from now, will give flexibility to the states, which must implement the rules and submit compliance plans to the EPA by June 2016. States can decide how to meet the reductions, including joining or creating new cap-and-trade programs, deploying more renewable energy or ramping up energy-efficiency technologies.

The proposed rule will regulate carbon emissions from hundreds of fossil-fuel power plants across the U.S., including about 600 coal plants, which will be hit hardest by the standard. The agency wouldn't comment beyond saying the proposal would be released Monday.

One volcano eruption emits a million times more carbon than they're cutting.

It ain't about the climate. It's about driving the peasants to extinction.

America needs a 90% reduction in “emissions” from the gestapo at EPA.

“America needs a 90% reduction in “emissions” from the gestapo at EPA.”

I recommend a 100% cut.

How about a 100% cut in regulations concocted by the bureaucrats of the EPA changing the intent of the laws passed by Congress?

I saw an article that said that gas consumption was down by 75%. We have already exceed EPA numbers.

This is about prohibiting Americans from producing their own energy and ultimately, from producing their own food. The pretense is "saving the planet," but the outcome, regardless of intent, will be to prohibit free, self-directed people from creating energy to fuel their local, regional, national, and international infrastructures.

The outcome is guaranteed to make them dependent slaves to a lower quality of living.

These people simply just want to shut our economy down. Throw them out of their make work government jobs, and make them do something much more useful such as cleaning toilets.

I doubted the 75% after I hit post so I looked it up.

This is all about revamping the scandalized carbon credit industry so the UN redistributors can rape America of more money, while the fascist-enviros fatten their own wallets.

The world will never run out of ‘developing’ countries and the developing countries will never run out of scam projects while being careful not to become a ‘developed’ country, and so will never run out of ‘certified emission reduction’ credits to sell to the world in the foreseeable future. These credits are a punative tax on civilization. And so the demand will be perpetual - and ever increasing just to keep up with inflation.

It’s like giving uncivilized nations a casino that will always pay out, as a reward for staying uncivilized. What the nations then do with the money is another story but it doesn’t trickle down to their people.

The good news is these regulations can be purged if we ever get a conservative back in office.

Meanwhile India and China puff away.
