Questions about the reported abduction of Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl; Update: Reports of desertion mounting
Michelle Malkin Bog ^ | 7/20/2009 | Michelle Malkin

My prayers are with the family of Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. soldier seen on the Taliban abduction video released this weekend. The Jawa Report has the full clip.

All Americans should hope and pray for his release from jihadi custody.

There’s one question I have, though, about strange details initially reported on the case — details which have been deleted from later wire dispatches.

That was my first question.

Who did Barry meet with.
Why did the Afghan President refuse his meeting !

Why was the CIA agent outed ?
What did that Agent know ?.

How about we all give a POW of five years the benefit of any doubt until we KNOW better?

Is that too much to ask?

You REALLY need to read up on this.

The soldiers in his own company said he deserted, and soldiers were killed looking for him. This is seriously bad.

“You REALLY need to read up on this.”

As I said, I know a very close personal friend of his family. I have done more than ‘read up.’

Some of what I’ve read is probably true, and some is not. It can’t all be true.

I think his family is being misrepresented. As for Bowe’s situation, it’s a mystery right now as far as I’m concerned.

It is a travesty and will lead to many more American deaths...and what will we tell the parents, family, and friends of those killed?

We'll tell them it was because of a video, etc. etc. until 2 years later when it's Like 2 years ago, Dude!

Check out the CNN story:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3162555/posts

... and then look into his dad’s rather bizarre statement at Obama’s announcement of Bowe’s release.

I know all this is tough to deal with. It’s insane.

I admit it’s hard to understand. It’s just knowing what I know about their history, I find the notion that they are anti-American Muslims to be frankly unbelievable.

Bowe I don’t know that much about, but since he may have lost his mind or gotten kidnapped, I’m loathe to accuse until we know.

I have a suspicion that, even given the benefit of the doubt, Bow Bergdal will not be answering any questions. He may indeed come from a very good family ( although his father seems to have gone over the edge from this ordeal). But that can’t negate the multiple reports (from people ho claim to have been in his unit) that he wandered off. Also, a few years ago, a reporter named Michael Hastings (yes the one who recently died) wrote a story that featured some damning emails - allegedly authored by Bergdal.

Either there is a very large conspiracy against him - or he deserted.

Through Taliban videos, he has had the opportunity to give ‘his side’....and he stated he fell behind on a patrol. This does not mesh at all with reports that he left behind his weapon, while the unit was in a defensive position for the night. So I’m a little skeptical.

But I am willing to given him the benefit of the doubt. One sincere question: What is the expiration date on that? Because I expect that a year from now, he will not have answered any questions. After a year, would you agree that something is rotten...I believe he and his family will try to use the passage of time to hide the whole truth....so I think there should be an expectation that at some point he respond to the accusations against him.

Not to mention the idiotic speech he gave at West Point. Our graduates know he’s false, and not to be trusted.

This new “world dialogue” continues with the new leaders in Afghan (that is to say the new opium cartel tribe that wrested control from the old drug dealing clan leader Hamid Karzai who is now out of office).

This whole thing cascaded after the “surprise” afghan visit to the “troops” and the WH exposed the Afghan CIA chief of station. Our CIA chief is a muslim convert from catholicism and another “arabic” speaker. Convinced he is a turned individual. Obamaumao is clearly a world marxist islamofascist.

This is not incompetence— it is deliberate.

It’s true, we may never know.

I find it perfectly believable that he wandered off. The question is why?

Was he drunk? Was he bitter? Had he lost his grip on reality? Was he a deserter? Was he a traitor? Was he trying to get away with something (trading, I don’t know, meeting a girl, switching off with another guy, wanting privacy for a legitimate or illegitimate reason?) Was he kidnapped? Was he tricked? Was he on a covert operation?

Any of the above could be true. I don’t know if we’ll ever know.

Honestly, did you SEE his father's tweet which has been extensively reported today?

@A.Balkhi I am still working to free all Guantanamo prisoners. God will repay for the death of every Afghan child, ameen!— Robert Bergdahl (@bobbergdahl) May 28, 2014

And at the end of the presser with Obama, right before Obama hugged him, Bergdahl said, according to Gateway Pundit,

“Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim” —which means “In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate.”

Sorry if you are close to this, but there is something seriously wrong here.

Oh it’s all part of the new “world dialogue” obamaumao spoke of at West Point graduation. Tone deaf to reality— or more specifically our policy allies itself with the islamofascists in yet another wussified “peace in our time”.

Each one of the top leaders of the Taliban are at minimum
mass murderers. But moral equivocator the likes of which is Mr. Bergdahl (the dad) are without question the worst.

We had these kind of people in WWII, and esp. in Vietnam. Only a traitor like the obamaomau would side this way as he sneers at our veterans and their lack of care, siphons away pensions for veterans and generally has put Hagel in charge of “downsizing” our world wide military, thereby putting us at risk with our allies (each one of which he has also disrespected like the good marxist he is).

I saw the tweet, and all I can say is I wonder if it’s hacked or faked. If not, there is an obvious and new problem. Quite unexpected. But I have seen phony and hacked tweets many times over the years so that possibility must be considered.

As for the Pashto language Allah thing, I guess we have to believe that that is what it means, so, if so, a stock phrase? Alternatively, we are to believe that a man who has been a member of a serious Bible believing church with strong discipline who home schooled his kids in Idaho has suddenly become a Muslim. It could happen, but, it sure is rare.

The parents seemed to be quite genuinely emotional and loving toward their son, but they also seemed to be being very careful what they said and how they expressed it. They seemed to have been coached (I don’t mean conspiratorially) as to what to say. Like they are handling Bowe as a very fragile guy, which he may understandably well be. As I have mentioned on other posts, brain washing, torture, trauma and mental illness may all be in play here. I really feel for the parents. They have not talked to Bowe and can only go on what they are being told.

Remember the stour a few days ago about how Karzai didn’t want to speak to Obama and some were speculating oh what that could be about..who knows maybe Karzai knew Obama was making this Taliban deal and wanted no part of it

Wow! You are doing more intellectual contortions than I’ve ever seen on Free Republic.

Bowe’s own fellow service members on the ground said he deserted.

His father by his very own words sympathizes with the Islamists.

I’m sorry if you’re close to these people, but your acting like none of this matters is disturbing.

A few years ago, CNN ran a story...its been all over this board today. It had reports that his platoon, in search of him, encountered children in a nearby village, who had seen him sneaking around, asking for water, and asking for directions to the Taliban.

The story also quoted squad mates, who stated that he had made statements about wondering what was on the other side of the mountains...and even a desire to travel through the mountains to China.

At best, he ‘Lost his mind’. But still doesn’t give him license to desert. It is going to be very hard watching the news the next few days. He and his parents will be in Texas....but the tv cameras will be in Idaho...showing us yellow ribbons on trees, signs on reastaurants, a people (just like your friend) who are excited and happy to see him home. Even if he did lose his mind, the silence about the subsequent search for him, and its casualties, will be very upsetting to me, when juxtposed with the glowing coverage of his hometown, that I expect to see.

Again, a sincere question - how long does he get the benefit of the doubt? I understand he will be in a hospital and re-adjusting for a while. But a year from now, would you expect him to have answered questions?

“Again, a sincere question - how long does he get the benefit of the doubt? I understand he will be in a hospital and re-adjusting for a while. But a year from now, would you expect him to have answered questions?”

I can’t honestly answer that. I wonder if there would be good reason for him to keep quiet. I don’t know.

The CNN story needs to be considered, along with everything else. There is so much conflicting information. I don’t know what to believe.

I mean wondering what’s on the other side of the mountaings, desiring to travel to China, dissing his superiors, expressing disgust with the war and/or how it was run -

none of that is “treason” to my mind, and probably lots of soldiers express similar statement.

And “losing your mind” doesn’t give you license to do anything, but you know, if you really lose it, you are talking to people who aren’t there and have no grip on reality. Was this his case? I have no idea. But if it was, well, people don’t choose insanity and I’m not sure how culpable he is for it. That doesn’t make the six who died any less dead and that is not ok with me. But what do you do if a soldier loses it? It happens often enough. Tough situation.

I am not saying Bowe went crazy, I am just saying it is one of several possibilities. Some of the reports seem to indicate erratic behavior even before he enlisted. But maybe they aren’t true reports.

Benefit of doubt— sure. Benefit of facts... of course. And the facts as gleaned through military leaks and early emails from a member of his unit, show the sucker planned this, misleading his “new age” father with a “conscience” trip to “find himself” in the mountains. Only it wasn’t-— he was immediately put up to propaganda by his pals who smoked hash with him and got him to the Taliban local leaders who took him to Pakistan (the vacation spot for our current present___dent in chief btw while he was at occidental college).

Anyone who has an ounce of understanding of Aghanistan, from the history of the Brits there at the very least, would understand how a kid, who tried to join the French Foreign Legion (and was rejected, and that is saying something for the “foreign” legion who takes criminals with a new identity), then joins the Army and goes to Afghan to “help the people” (our new mission apparently instead of finding al-zawahiri)..... how just such a misfit “went native” having violated 2 of his General Orders (offenses that are good for 10 years in Leavenworth). He had help from the local spy system and walked off his base.

My question: how are we going to “know better”? Do you think that any kind of truth will be coming from this criminal administration of islamofascist enablers?

“Bowe’s own fellow service members on the ground said he deserted.”

Some did; not all.

I am not trying to do intellectual contortion. The fact is that there are many conflicting reports about what happened. They can’t all be true. So I don’t understand why everyone seems to be eager to believe the worst of them.

I am not close to these people. I am close to someone who is close to them.

His father spoke some Pashto to a son who is reported to be speaking nothing but Pashto right now. I don’t think that should condemn him. If he praised Allah, I don’t support it. If it was just a use of “allah” as the generic word for God, which is a true use of the word, then I don’t find it particularly objectionable.

All I am trying to say is, why the rush to believe the worst, here? I don’t find that to be intellectual contortion.

Some of the facts. .. some of the leaks. Not all.

“his “new age” father “

His father was NOT “new age” What he is doing right now I don’t know. But for many long years there was nothing “new age” about him.

“Do you think that any kind of truth will be coming from this criminal administration of islamofascist enablers?”

Sadly, no, and that is frustrating.
