(CNSNews.com) – A new analysis by the Employment Policy Institute (EPI) shows that unemployment among teens without a high school diploma is more than 50 percent in two of the largest U.S. cities.

Using U.S. Census Bureau data from May 2013 to April 2014, the analysis reveals that in Riverside-San Bernardino area of Southern California, the unemployment rate for teens ages 16 to 19 years old who don’t have a high school diploma is 54.2 percent.

In the Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton, Ore., metropolitan area, the unemployment rate from that population is 53.8 percent.

“These numbers are staggering,” Michael Saltsman, director of research at EPI told CNSNews.com. “Teens across the country this summer are missing out on valuable work experience as they continue to suffer through an extended period of high unemployment and difficult job prospects.”

Three other California metropolitan areas round out the Top 5 cities with the highest unemployment for the least skilled young people – Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana (39 percent), San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos (37.5 percent) and San Francisco-Oakland-Freemont (35.2 percent).

Saltsman said these young people would be hurt more if state and federal legislators increase the minimum wage.

Right The liberal response will be to increase the minimum wage. They don’t care because all that matters is that they appear to be doing something while relentlessly pushing towards more socialism. They don’t care that it will cost jobs among urban youth since the Republicans and MSM won’t hold them accountable. Pubs = useless and MSM / dems = hopeless. Useless and Hopeless.

Exactly what I was thinking. Wilding and rioting. As soon as non-feral adults start to defend themselves it will be the justification that bammy needs to invoke martial law and start confiscating weapons from the bitter clingers...

The problem really is that the Hispanics (legal or illegal) are, for the most part honest, hardworking people. I don’t like where we are today with illegal immigration, but from what I see, the Hispanics are willing to work for a living, while the blacks (and white trash) sit around on their fat asses collecting welfare checks. The other part of is is that unlike the Blacks, the Hispanics are willing to learn jobs so that they are very good at them.

The above average kids I know are worried spitless about not getting into college.

They face $20,000 per year expenses if they even get a scholarship or if they’re not mexican or black. Or if their parents have money

Then they face $20,000 to $80,000 even $a hundred Gs debt

I can’t get any kid in my neighborhood to do anything for us. No one will rake the leaves. Nothing

They need $60 G. In this economy where they’ll be lucky to get a job.

I don’t know

And they have to compete with illegals around here for the lawn mowing, restaurant, work

Because kids nowadays are dumb as sh*t. We even had interviews for our warehouse packer position and most of these idiots showed up in jeans with earphone still strapped to their collars.

“surely, raising the minimum wage will go a long way toward helping the situation......”

Probably won’t matter much. Those jobs are all taken by illegals anyway.

but from what I see, the Hispanics are willing to work for a living,

Here in California legal Hispanics are twice as likely to get some kind of public assistance than non-Hispanics. They may or may not be working, but they often don't make enough to support their families, and the taxpayers make up the difference with food stamps, section 8, MediCal, etc.

And again, that's the legal ones.

“from what I see, the Hispanics are willing to work for a living, while the blacks (and white trash) sit around on their fat asses collecting welfare checks.”

It doesn’t matter whether whites are willing to work at these jobs or not; they are excluded.
