Obama defends Bergdahl deal — ‘We seized that opportunity’
Washington Times ^

Posted on 06/03/2014 4:27:08 AM PDT by bryan999

President Obama said Tuesday he had an obligation to secure the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, regardless of the circumstances surrounding Sgt. Bergdahl’s capture by the Taliban five years ago and despite claims he’s a “deserter” who walked away from his unit.

Speaking at a news conference in Warsaw alongside Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, Mr. Obama said he, like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and FDR before him, must take every possible step to bring home American fighting men and women held in captivity at the end of a war.

U.S. combat operations in Afghanistan will cease at the end of the year, though 9,800 troops will remain there through 2015.

As the end of combat operations drew closer, the president said the White House consulted with Congress “for quite some time” about a possible prisoner exchange to retrieve Sgt. Bergdahl.

“The U.S. has always had a pretty sacred rule, and that is we don’t leave our men or women in uniform behind. And that dates back to the earlier days of our Revolution,” Mr. Obama said. “We saw an opportunity. We were concerned about Sgt. Bergdahl’s health … We seized that opportunity.”

He consulted with Congress? Yeah, and obviously they didn’t approve of the plan. That’s exactly why they passed a law that was supposed to stop him from just gong ahead and doing this. Which, of course, was the law he just ignored and blatantly violated on every possible level.

But he’s so confident that congress is powerless to stop him that he really doesn’t given a damn.

“The U.S. has always had a pretty sacred rule, and that is we don’t leave our men or women in uniform behind. And that dates back to the earlier days of our Revolution,” Mr. Obama said.

The nerve of this guy.

He left our men in uniform behind in Benghazi...when he had the chance to do something about it.

And then he makes reference to the Revolution so as to give his statement a tinge of patriotism?

The only opportunity Obama seized was to release five very dangerous Taliban leaders.

Combine this with wanted to give weapons to Al Qaeda in Benghazi, can there be ANY doubt that Obama has committed treason?

God Help me but I agree with Obama.

God help you is right. . because you just got sucked in by Barry. This has nothing to do with having to get Bergdahl back and EVERYTHING to do with Valerie Jarrett's Muslim Brotherhood connections and the pressure they exert to release Taliban terrorists. Obama "seized the opportunity" to take care of his friends while using Bergdahl as the thinnest of pretexts.

Oh. . .and given you propensity to be sucked. . .get ready for the next subterfuge. . .to release the Blind Sheikh.

I have one question with a corollary
When the next attack on Americans takes place will you be thumping your chest”we won”?
When the next American dies will you resign?

I know the answer to both questions. Do You?

Here’s a “sacred rule”:

“You don’t trade the most dangerous terrorists in your custody for a battlefield deserter!”

You especially don’t go out of your way to force the exchange and then pretend it was a noble objective.

This whole mess has little to do with returning a soldier home and everything to do with furthering Obama’s agenda to “transform” America from the once mighty superpower it was to a third world banana republic dictatorship with him at the helm. It's no secret that Obama and his accomplices are Muslim sympathizers. The Muslims, because of their hatred for America and their stated intent to destroy America, are useful allies in Obama’s quest to destroy America. Releasing those 5 major terrorists will allow the Muslims and Obama to realize their dreams.

He’s a deserter, why would we save him and risk the lives of our military???? It’s not like he was captured and held as a POW.

He didn’t give a crap about the guys left behind in Benghazi and he has the nerve to compare himself to real Presidents.

Bears repeating.....and in BOLD.

Talk about in your face FU Americans.

I’ve wondered for the last 6 years who is really running the country. Because of the Benghazi decisions and now this, it would appear that it is a bunch of muslims.

Obama defends Bergdahl deal — ‘We seized that opportunity’

Strictly a publicity stunt to endear him to the troops and Veterans and to smokescreen the VA fiasco.

Only time will tell if it worked but IMHO, he just compounded his image of incompetence and questionable political/religious leanings.......................

“We” are still having to live with the aftermath of the Carter Middle East policies.

Obama’s releasing 5 of some of the worst terrorists of this century surpasses Carter.

“We” will be living with the aftermath of this release for the next half-century and more.

The excuse: Bergdahl was ill, Qatar was willing to broker the exchange, now was the only time and these 5 were the terrorists the Taliban wanted.

{shaking head}

{wonder what the intended deal for the capture of Amb. Stevens was, had it not be flubbed up?}

Bergdahl, deserter, anti-American, Obama goes all out to "bring our serviceman home". Sgt. Tahmoreesi, honorable veteran, lands in a Mexican prison on bogus charges and is in danger for his life. No action from our post-American President or his anti-war Secretary of State or anyone in his Administration.

People have got to see that Obama is on the other side. He's not for American, he supports jihadists and sympathizes with Muslims everywhere. Is the truth too tough to admit?
