‘Getting worse by the hour’: FNC reports Bergdahl renounced US citizenship

" John Ekdahl @JohnEkdahl Follow If confirmed, this would be a bit of a game-changer. 9:52 AM - 3 Jun 2014"

That’s putting it mildly.

If this report from Fox News national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin is true, the Bergdahl affair just got a whole lot stickier:

"Jenna Lee ✔ @Jennafnc Follow Great reporting from @JenGriffinFNC - new report: Berghdal left behind a note renouncing American citizenship...developing... 9:43 AM - 3 Jun 2014"

"David Shor @IshYimini Follow

OMG. https://twitter.com/jennafnc/status/473852493286633472 … he left us behind. This is a game changer. He should be happy we didn't drone him. 9:53 AM - 3 Jun 2014"

There is desperation in this entire debacle. Maybe something that HAD to be accomplished BEFORE Gowdy’s Benghazi hearings.

“You can’t simply say: “I renounce my citizenship.” and then not become a US citizen.”

Of course you can. The super rich just do it so they can move their cash around. Regular dude could flip the bird and just never come home, and never visit. Following the official state procedure just lets you be able to visit the USA as a tourist later.

This event and its inevitable horrific fallout should keep the problems at the VA, Benghazi, IRS, Extortion 17, Fast and Furious etc... off the front pages for a while. At least until the buffoon makes another so called blunder that manifestly benefits his diabolical muslim brotherhood overlords.

If Bergdahl renounced US citizenship why is he allowed back in??????????????

I would hope it would be in order to be tried for treason and if found guilty to be hanged.

In light of the fact that so many soldiers were killed and maimed searching for this deserter, then if, at the end of it all, there is a traitor hanging from a gallows, then the exchange for the terrorists might at least have some meaning.

I'm sure George Washington would have gladly traded five British saboteurs for Benedict Arnold just so he could have presided over his hanging

Sadly, I don't think Bergdahl will even face a court Marshall. Instead he will get a couple of medals and an honorable discharge.

You guys only found partial list of causes.

Causes of Citizenship Loss

U.S. citizens are subject to loss of citizenship if they perform certain acts voluntarily and with the intention to relinquish U.S. citizenship.  These acts include:

Obtaining naturalization in a foreign state;

Taking an oath, affirmation or other formal declaration to a foreign state or its political subdivisions;

Entering or serving in the armed forces of a foreign state engaged in hostilities against the U.S. or serving as a commissioned or non-commissioned officer in the armed forces of a foreign state;

Accepting employment with a foreign government if (a) one has the nationality of that foreign state or (b) a declaration of allegiance is required in accepting the position;

Formally renouncing U.S. citizenship before a U.S. consular officer outside the United States; Formally renouncing U.S. citizenship within the U.S. (but only "in time of war"); Conviction for an act of treason. Persons Who Wish

Overheard by the Rose bushes in the garden:

Bob Bergdahl: “Mr. President, I feel I must tell you something. I swear by the Prophet (PBUH) it’s the truth, and I just hope you take this the right way. Bowe left a note with his unit renouncing his American citizenship.”

Soebarkah: “Really?? Me too!! When I was 20 I did something that legally renounced my US citizenship. I was in Indonesia and I decided to renew the passport my mom and step-dad got for me as a child, which I had to do before I turned 21. I wanted to be able to freely come and go from Indonesia as I pleased and also to travel to other countries without being identified as an American. They told me that under their law I had to choose, I could either be an Indonesian or an American but not both. Remember, Americans had just elected the fascist reactionary Ronald Reagan. Later, I saw that everything I feared about him was true when he tried to crush the socialist movement in Nicaragua and litter Europe with missiles. So it wasn’t a hard choice. But of course I didn’t tell the Americans what I did! Hahahahahaha!”

Bob Bergdahl: “Wait, I thought it wasn’t a problem for people to have dual passports?”

Soebarkah: “Not if you voluntarily do it as an adult, and the country you get the other passport from requires you to state that you relinquish all other nationalities because they don’t allow dual citizenship.”

Bob Bergdahl: “Oh I see. Hahahahahaha!”

Mrs. Bergdahl: “Hahahahahaha!”

Soebarkah: “Anyway, don’t worry about that, Bob. Unlike what I did, just leaving a note is not enough to revoke his American citizenship.”

Bob Bergdahl: “Thank you, thank you Mr. President. You are truly most gracious and merciful, like the Prophet (PBUH) says of Allah, Bism’Allah alrahman alraheem.”

Soebarkah: [Bows reverently.]

Where’s the concern for U.S. Marine Andrew Tamooressi who’s been held captive in Mexican jail? He didn’t desert military like #Bergdahl did.

And why would Obama go all out to “rescue” such a man? I think we all know the answer. Because he’s a fellow-traveler.
I doubt Obama gives a hoot about Bergdahl beyond he's a good excuse for what O does care about, releasing 5 Taliban. And what does O gain? How about a big fat check from the King of Qatar to his presidential LieBarry or a Swiss bank account?

Because he would rather take the heat on this one than Bengahzi, and the VA....

The administration is trying to create a fiction just like they did with Benghazi. Goebbels taught them well, and they are dedicated to their technique to lie to the American public. Here they take a POS and rewrite his life and think none will ask any questions. Impeach and convict the SOB, obama.

RE: Of course you can. The super rich just do it so they can move their cash around.

Nope, the super rich dude still FORMALLY renounce their citizenships.

Eduard Saverin (who became Singaporean), co-founder of FACEBOOK and Singer, Tina Turner (who became Swiss ) did just that.

Here are others who did just that:

Wouldn’t he actually have to be a U.S. citizen in order to do so?
