The oil and gas companies are rolling in money. They should be training the people they need, instead of expecting the TX taxpayers to do it. Besides, most training institutions can’t afford to train on the latest technology because it is extremely expensive. The oil and gas companies could train on the equipment they actually use, thus eliminating the need to re-train.

No easy solution, but maybe if big business stared TELLING THE TRUTH of what comes out of the education monopoly, they’d start getting some kids that know how to read.

But like the rest of society, they’re SCARED TO DEATH to do anything - so they give internships and scholarships to college kids that still need remedial math (and sometimes reading).

I'm in the medical transcription industry, where wages have beeen going down and jobs have been hard to find.

So, to hear that in Texas, energy companies steal each other's personnel and engage in a bidding war to get them, sounds good to me. Wish my industry were more like that...
