The Taliban found Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl walking alone, acting abnormally and cursing his countrymen before they captured him in Afghanistan in 2009, two men who were Taliban commanders at the time told NBC News on Thursday.
They said that Afghan locals first informed fighters about the soldier, and then the fighters rushed to capture him.
“Our people at the time couldn’t understand his language, but it was after he was shifted to a safe location, he said he wasn’t happy with his countrymen, but he didn’t intend to convert to Islam or join mujahideen (holy warriors),” one of the commanders said.
The commanders said that Taliban officers first thought it was a trick — perhaps an American soldier sent out alone to spy on the enemy.
“As we never saw their soldier patrolling alone … we would ask him how he managed to walk out of his base,” one of the commanders said. “He would tell us that it was personal issue.”

Now the Taliban are covering for him.
“Think he had deserted his army with a mission and wanted to accept Islam, but our people didn’t trust him. That shattered his belief,” he (Taliban commander) said.
Obama probably got word out to his buddies in Afghanistan.

Shouldn't be surprising, considering the close relationship they have with the current occupant of the White House.
I think they are stretching the whole concept of “capture” here.
Bowe thinks he's going all peace-corps and these folks would welcome a foreigner with open arms just like in the cartoons, but that wasn't the reality. Instead of doing peace-corps stuff, he was thrown into a compound and kept like a pet dog. He couldn't integrate with the military and he couldn't integrate with the Afganis. Let the liberal we-are-the-world types learn a lesson from this.

I’m wondering if this isn’t Obama’s 2014 election strategy. Do something so stupid the Republicans will have to react then come out with some other version and make it look like they jumped the gun.
Just wondering, it’s odd that he threw all the Dems under the bus with this. Even odder that Reid said so what.
